GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The No. 3 North Farmington Raiders (13-1) handed the No. 4 Muskegon Big Reds (13-1) their first loss of the season, 68-55, on Saturday afternoon at Aquinas College.

It was a slow start for both teams, as nobody scored until about a minute and a half into the game. North Farmington's Ryan Hurst was the first to fill the hoop.

Throughout the first half, North Farmington's full court press gave Muskegon fits. It couldn't get its offense in rhythm.

Toward the end of the half, Muskegon finally got momentum. It went on a 6-0 run to end the half, aided by back-to-back travel violations against North Farmington. North Farmington led by as much as 10 in the first half, but led by just four at the break.

About midway through the third quarter, Muskegon started inching closer, but then North Farmington kicked into high gear and began to pull away. It started with three straight Muskegon turnovers as it pushed its lead to 14.

Hurst led all scorers with 22 points, and Anthony Sydnor led Muskegon with 15 points.
