Michigan high school baseball and softball top performers of the week (April 24-30)

Here are the candidates for SBLive's Michigan Athlete of the Week

The following athletes will be included in this weeks' SBLive Michigan Athlete of the Week Poll.


Baseball

Jaxon Huffman, Mona Shores High School

Mona Shores’ Jaxon Huffman was unstoppable in the huge 15-0 win over Union. Huffman would go 2-for-4 at the plate as he notched six RBIs and two home runs.

Jasen Oliver, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s

Senior Indiana commit, Jasen Oliver, was stellar for Orchard Lake St. Mary’s as it defeated Catholic Central 8-3. Oliver went 2-for-2 at bat as he would finish with four RBIs and one home run.

Gavin Devooght, Walled Lake Central

Walled Lake Central’s Gavin Devooght had a good performance in their 12-5 win against South Lyon East. Devooght posted a .333 batting average as he finished with two RBIs and one home run off one hit.

Noah Arbogast, Stevenson High School

Senior Noah Arbogast led Stevenson to a win against John Glenn on Wednesday. Arbogast would finish with a 1.000 batting average as he notched one run, two RBIs, and one home run.

Owen Turner, Brother Rice

Brother Rice’s Owen Turner had a good performance in the Warriors' 5-4 win against Hartland on Thursday. Turner would go 1-for-2 at bat as he finished with one run, one RBI, and one home run. 

Softball

Delaney Belding, Midland Dow High School

Junior Delaney Belding had a good showing for Midland Dow on Saturday despite its loss to Traverse City Central 21-17. Belding would go 5-for-5 at bat as she finished with three runs, five RBIs and two home runs.

Olivia Burke, Linden High School

Senior Olivia Burke showcased her skills for Linden as she led them to a win over Flushing on Thursday. Burke would post a 1.000 batting average as she notched three runs, six RBIs, one double and one home run.

Genevieve Cook, Catholic Central

Catholic Central’s Genevieve Cook had fantastic showings in the double header against Northview on Friday. In game one, Cook would go 3-for-3 at bat finishing with three runs, four RBIs, one double, one triple and one home run in a 12-13 loss. In game two, Cook went 2-for-4 at bat with two runs, three RBIs and two home runs.

Alana Meade, Schoolcraft High School

Senior Alana Meade had a good performance for Schoolcraft on Thursday in their 7-1 win over South Haven. Meade would post a .667 batting average as she finished the game with three runs, four RBIs and one home run.

Morgan Sizemore, Allen Park High School

For the second consecutive week, Morgan Sizemore has showed out with her performance on the diamond. In a huge 16-0 win over Lincoln Park, Sizemore would go 1-for-2 at bat, finishing with one run, five RBIs and one home run.
