The University of Liggett Knights defeated the No. 1 Orchard Lake St. Mary's Eaglets 4-3 on Wednesday at University of Liggett High School. 

The loss ends the Eaglets' winning streak at 84 games, which was the MHSAA record, and it was five wins shy of tying the national record set by Portsmouth (N.H.) from 2008 to 2012.

The Eaglets last lost on April 30, 2021.

The Knights scored two runs in the first inning. The Eaglets tied the game in the fifth inning and took the one-run lead in the seventh inning. The Knights rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game.
