Descriptions of each player are below the poll.

Jackson Arnold, sr., QB, Denton Guyer (Texas)

Arnold led Guyer to a 14-1 record as a senior, completing 231 of 336 pass attempts for 3,476 yards, 33 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He also rushed for 921 yards and 24 touchdowns, averaging 5.7 yards per carry in earning state and national Gatorade Player of the Year honors.

Rueben Bain, sr., DE, Miami Central (Florida)

Bain was a wrecking ball for the Class 2M state champion Rockets, making 57 tackles (39 of them for a loss) and 29 sacks. Those stats are also misleading for the future Miami Hurricane, because the defensive end often sat out the fourth quarter in games where Miami Central was way ahead.

Blake Boda, sr., QB, Cocoa (Florida)

Boda came to Cocoa via transfer from Seabreeze in the offseason and the senior had himself a season to remember, earning honors as SBLive Florida player of the year. The southpaw completed 270-of-414 passes for 4,028 yards, 49 touchdowns and also rushed for over 200 and added five scores.

Drayk Bowen, sr., LB/RB, Andrean (Indiana)

Bowen earned back-to-back Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year honors for his work on both sides of the ball, and he was named Indiana Mr. Football at linebacker as a senior. He rushed for 1,784 yards and 26 touchdowns on offense and piled up 144 tackles (19 for a loss), five sacks, four forced fumbles and two interceptions on defense.

Elijah Brown, jr., QB, Mater Dei (California)

Brown completed 184 of 270 passes (68%) for 2,785 yards, 31 touchdowns and only four interceptions in 2022. The junior was the most consistent quarterback in California high school football in the fall. The SBLive California All-State honoree is 29-1 in his career as a starter.

Colton Brunell, jr., RB, Columbus (Wisconsin)

After an 1,800-yard, 26-touchdown regular season on the ground, Brunell kept rolling in the playoffs, leading his team to an undefeated season and a state championship. The 6-foot, 210-pounder rushed for another 1,100 yards and 17 TDs in the playoffs, including 186 yards and two touchdowns in the championship game win over Catholic Memorial and fellow star junior running back Corey Smith.

Tackett Curtis, sr., LB/RB, Many (Louisiana)

Curtis is one of those guys who was born to play football. The USC signee always made an impact on defense, and his stat line of 112 tackles, six sacks and four interceptions is not a surprise. The SBLive Louisiana MVP also had 1,115 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns to lead the Tigers to their second title in three seasons, while adding four punt return touchdowns.

Malaki Dowell, sr., RB, White County (Tennessee)

Dowell fell just 156 yards short of the all-time single-season Tennessee rushing record held by Jalen Hurd, finishing with 3,201 rushing yards. He averaged 10.7 yards per carry and found the end zone 40 times in 12 games. Hurd played 14 games in his record-setting season in 2012.

Caleb Downs, sr., S/RB, Mill Creek (Georgia)

The top-ranked safety and No. 6 overall prospect in the senior class, per the 247Sports composite rankings, Downs lived up to the hype in 2022. The Alabama commit led Mill Creek with five interceptions and was the team's second-leading tackler (66) in a state championship-winning season. He also rushed for 390 yards and 20 touchdowns and caught 36 passes for 422 yards and three scores.

Zane Flores, sr., QB, Gretna (Nebraska)

Flores was good for nearly 250 yards and three touchdowns per game entering the Class A state championship game, which Gretna narrowly lost. The Oklahoma State commit had a pair of six-touchdown games and threw for more than 2,500 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also rushed for more than 800 yards and six scores.

Jarvis Green, sr., RB, Dutch Fork (South Carolina)

Green led Dutch Fork to the Class 5A state championship after rushing for 2,272 yards and 33 touchdowns, plus making 36 catches for 527 yards and five scores. The Clemson signee was at his best in the playoffs, scoring 16 touchdowns (four in the championship game) during the Silver Foxes' five-game postseason run to the title.

Brandon Inniss, sr., WR, Plantation American Heritage (Florida)

There may not have been a better all-around technician at the wide receiver position in the country than Inniss. The Ohio State commit had 1,336 yards and 15 touchdowns this past season despite facing consistent double coverage.

Ethen Knox, jr., RB, Oil City (Pennsylvania)

Knox was arguably the biggest breakout star in the country in 2022, rushing for 3,702 yards with 42 touchdowns, plus making 63 tackles and six interceptions on defense. He broke NFL star Derrick Henry's high school record when he ran for his fifth 400-yard game of the season.

Sam Leavitt, sr., QB, West Linn (Oregon)

Leavitt led West Linn to the Class 6A state championship with consistently impressive play at quarterback. He was responsible for over 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns, and the Gatorade Player of the Year in Oregon will be playing college football at Michigan State.

Jayden Limar, sr., RB, Lake Stevens (Washington)

Limar earned SBLive Washington and Gatorade Player of the Year honors as a senior. The Oregon Ducks signee rushed for 2,018 yards and 36 touchdowns on 235 carries, finishing with more than 2,350 total yards and 40 touchdowns while leading the Vikings to their first Class 4A championship.

Dante Moore, sr., QB, Detroit King (Michigan)

Moore was simply sensational once again in leading Detroit King to its second straight state title. In 2022, he threw for 2,392 yards and 32 touchdowns against just three picks. He flipped to UCLA in December after being committed to Oregon since the summer.

Suntarine Perkins, sr., RB/LB, Raleigh (Mississippi)

Perkins put up huge numbers all year long, but he came up biggest in the last game of the season, racking up 378 yards, four touchdowns and an interception on defense in leading Raleigh to its first state championship. The future Ole Miss linebacker finished with 92 total tackles, five sacks, four interceptions and four forced fumbles while rushing for 32 touchdowns and over 2,000 yards.

Roderick Robinson, sr., RB, Lincoln (California)

Robinson, an overpowering and physical runner, rushed for 2,378 yards and 37 touchdowns in the fall. In Lincoln's 33-28 state championship win over Concord De La Salle, the Georgia signee and SBLive California player of the year rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns.

Kenyon Sadiq, sr., WR/TE, Skyline (Idaho)

The top recruit in the Northwest led Skyline to a 50-35 Class 4A IHSAA championship win over Bishop Kelly to cap a dominant senior season. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound tight end/wide receiver, a class of 2023 four-star Oregon commit, had 376 total receiving yards and seven touchdowns in the state semis and finals.

Lamar Sperling, sr., RB, Archbishop Hoban (Ohio)

Sperling finished with 417 carries, 3,867 rushing yards, 58 rushing touchdowns, 12 receptions, 182 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. His 58 rushing TDs and 59 total TDs are single-season Ohio records. Named Ohio Mr. Football in December, he led Hoban to a 14-2 record and a Division II state runner-up finish.
