Girls’ Hockey

Maddie Hulter, Fergus Falls

The senior forward had three goals and three assists in a 9-0 rout of Breckenridge-Wahpeton on Feb. 14, and followed it up with a huge goal in a 2-1 win over River Lakes in the Section 6A championship two days later. Fergus Falls will play South St. Paul in a Class 1A Quarterfinal on Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. 

Speaking of South St. Paul …

Sarah Wincentsen, South St. Paul

The senior forward had a hat trick in a 5-0 shutout of Chisago Lakes, Feb. 14, and assisted on three more goals in a 4-1 win at Simley in the Section 4A championship, Feb. 16.

Sophie Stramel, Rosemount

The sophomore forward scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, and assisted on another in a 3-2 win over Cretin-Derham Hall on Feb. 16 to carry the Irish onto a Class AA Quarterfinal against Andover at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Jayda Moyer, Albert Lea

The sophomore goaltender stopped 28 of 30 shots on goal in a 3-2 overtime win over Dodge County in the Section 1A Championship, Feb. 16. Albert Lea will play Warroad in a Class A Quarterfinal at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Kali Schmidt, Orono

The sophomore forward had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Mound Westonka/Southwest Christian on Feb. 14 and followed that up with two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over the Academy of Holy Angels in the Section 5A Championship on Feb. 17. Orono will take on Luverne in a Class A Quarterfinal game on Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.

Boys’ Hockey

Pierce Gouin, Duluth Marshall

The senior had nine points, with three goals and six assists, in a 15-1 rout of Northern Edge, Feb. 18. He also scored a goal in a 4-2 loss at Forest Lake, Feb. 14. Duluth Marshall will get Andover in a Section 7AA Quarterfinal, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

Jay Svaren, Eastview

The goaltender stopped 29 of 31 shots in a 5-2 over Lakeville South on Feb. 16 and made 30 saves on 32 shots to preserve a 3-2 win at Shakopee two days later. Eastview faces Park of Cottage Grove in a Section 3AA Quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

Leo Gabriel, White Bear Lake

The sophomore goaltender stopped 35 of 38 shots on goal in a 4-3 win at Cretin-Durham Hall, Feb. 14, made 30 saves on 31 chances in a 5-1 at Rosemount two days later, and stopped all 15 shots on goal in a 1-0 shutout at Blaine the next day. White Bear Lake will take on Tartan in a Section 4AA Quarterfinal at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 25.

Aron Sutherland, Wadena-Deer Creek

The senior forward scored a goal and assisted on two others in an 8-4 win over Willmar on Feb. 14, had two goals and an assist in an 8-5 loss at Cambridge-Isanti on Feb. 16, and scored a hat trick with an assist in a 5-3 win at Red Lake Falls the next day. Wadena-Deer Creek takes on Morris/Benson in a Section 6A Quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

Lane Olson, Princeton

The sophomore forward scored twice in a 5-4 win at Hutchinson, Feb. 14, and twice more, including the game-winner, in another 5-4 win over Duluth Marshall, Feb. 16. Princeton faces Cambridge-Isanti in a Section 5A Quarterfinal, Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
