Baseball

Nicklaus Brunn, Concordia Academy

In a 16-12 win at St. Croix Prep on May 1, Brunn hit three home runs. His four homers this season are the most in Minnesota.

William Haas, Rockford

The sophomore struck out 18 batters in a complete game shutout at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, May 4. 

He allowed just one hit and three walks. He also went a combined 7-for-11 with three walks, two RBIs and two runs scored over four games played, three of which were wins.

Evan Nelson, Hastings

The junior led Hastings to three wins in four games, going 9-for-16 with a double, two walks, a stolen base, six RBIs and three runs scored. His 19 hits are tied for the most in the state.

Thomas Bradford, St. Paul Highland Park

In three victories by a combined score of 55-4, Bradford went 4-for-7 with five walks, two RBIs and 10 runs scored. His 21 runs scored are the most in Minnesota.

Andrew Orf, North Branch

The junior went a combined 11-for-16 with four doubles, two triples, 10 RBIs and seven runs scored in four victories last week. His 17 runs batted in are tied for fourth-most in the state.

Softball

Alexa Skogquist, St. Francis

The sophomore hit three homers in a 17-0 drubbing of Monticello and had a walkoff, three-run homer to beat Cambridge-Isanti on May 5. Over five games she hit .588 with four doubles, four dingers, and 13 RBI.

Jessa Snippes, Rosemount

The senior allowed just one run in two starts, going 11 innings and striking out 22 batters. She allowed just four hits and three walks, but might have been even better at the plate. 

She went 4-for-4 with two homers, six RBIs and two runs scored in a 17-1 rout at Shakopee, May 4. 

The day before that she was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs in a 10-0 shutout at Burnsville. Her 28 RBI are second-most in the state.

Lydia Simmons, Glencoe-Silver Lake

Over five games (all victories), the junior went 15-for-17 with two homers, six doubles, two walks, 16 RBIs, 15 runs scored and had eight steals in nine attempts. Her 27 runs scored are the most in Minnesota.

Macy Borowski, Byron

The senior got the win in three games, pitching 17.2 innings and allowing just two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 36 batters. She also went 8-for-12 with three doubles, three walks, five RBIs and a runs scored. She’s fifth in the state with 122 strikeouts this season.

Maddy Walsh, Proctor

In five games (all wins), she got the victory in four, pitching 27 innings and allowing just one unearned run on six hits and five walks. 

She struck out 52 batters, went 2-for-3 with a homer on May 6, and 2-for-3 with a double on May 3. Her nine wins are fourth-most in Minnesota, and her 110 strikeouts are sixth-most.
