Congratulations to Ridgeland boys basketball point guard Amare Holmes for being voted SBLive’s Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week for Dec. 27-Jan. 2!

The junior had a game-high 19 points in the Titans’ 50-37 win over two-time defending Class 3A state champion, St. Andrew’s.

Holmes received 40.75% of the vote, beating out Puckett's Amirah Holbert who finished second with 23.42%. Pisgah's Laylah Johnson finished third with14.44% and Florence's Jaylan McNair finished fourth with 7.35%. There were over 48,000 votes tallied this week!

Senavion Roby, Starkville Boys Basketball: Led Starkville with 22 points in a 69-57 win over New Hope in the New Hope Classic.

Tessa Jenkins, Pearl Girls Basketball: The 8th grader led the Lady Pirates with 16 points in a 46-45 win over Hattiesburg to claim the championship of the Hattiesburg Coca-Cola Classic.

Sharayah Graham, Hattiesburg Girls Basketball: Led all scorers with 19 points in a 45-46 Coca-Cola Classic championship loss to Pearl.

Terrell Dixon, Brandon Boys Basketball: Scored 20 points in a 71-52 Hattiesburg Coca-Cola Classic championship win over Hattiesburg.

Jaylan McNair, Florence Boys Basketball: Finished with 28 points in an 86-71 win over Vancleave in the Puckett Holiday Tournament.

Madilynn Vuncannon, Walnut Girls Basketball: Had 22 points and 8 rebounds in a 43-67 loss to Pillow Academy.

Oscar Hampton, Vancleave Boys Basketball: Led the Bulldogs with 23 points in a 71-86 loss against Florence in the Puckett Holiday Tournament.

Andie Flatgard, Jackson Prep Girls Basketball: Had 31 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in a 73-29 win over Callaway.

Damyia Cummings, Hernando Girls Basketball: Scored 16 points in a 50-34 win over Starkville in the New Hope Tournament.

Amirah Holbert, Puckett Girls Basketball: Recorded 20 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block in a 66-32 win over Port Gibson.

Malik Crigler, Holmes County Boys Basketball: Scored a game-high 17 points in a 63-45 win over Madison Central.

Laylah Johnson, Pisgah Girls Basketball: The 8th grader recorded a double-double (20 points,15 rebounds) along with 1 assist and 4 blocks in 49-43 win over Port Gibson. Johnson also earned MVP honors for the game.
