BRANDON — The Brandon Bulldogs avenged a three-point loss to Petal two weeks ago with a resounding 71-68 win over the Panthers Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs trailed 29-27 at the half, but got a huge surge from star guard Ismail Rashid, who scored nine points to fuel an 11-2 run in the third quarter to put Brandon ahead.

The Bulldogs never looked back, leading by as many as 17 in the fourth quarter before a late rally from the second-ranked Panthers made the score a little closer. Brandon advanced to 20-5 overall and 3-1 in the region with the win, while Petal fell to 16-4.
