Tishomingo County baseball SS/RHP Spence Coffman voted SBLive’s Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Tishomingo County baseball SS/RHP Spence Coffman for being voted SBLive’s Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 14-20!

The Southeastern Louisiana signee threw a complete game no-hitter (including 12 strikeouts) in a 3-0 win against Olive Branch on opening day and went 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple and an intentional walk with 2 scored runs.

Coffman received 40.16% of the vote, beating out Puckett's Matthew Boszor who finished second with 16.37%. Blue Mountain's Keyauna Foote finished third with 9.59% and Hattiesburg's Logan Burns finished fourth with 8.85%. There were over 75,000 votes tallied this week!

Matthew Boszor, Puckett Baseball:

Boszor struck out 12 batters in 5 innings and was 2-for-3 at the plate in a 3-1 win over Ethel.

Keyauna Foote, Blue Mountain Girls Basketball:

Scored 31 points in a 100-30 win over Okolona in the first round of the MHSAA 1A State Tournament.

Logan Burns, Hattiesburg Boys Basketball:

The sophomore led Hattiesburg with 12 points in 55-37 second round playoff win over West Harrison.

Andie Flatgard, Jackson Prep Girls Basketball:

Flatgard led the Lady Patriots to a 36-28 MAIS 6A State Championship win over Hartfield with 10 points and 6 rebounds. With the win, Jackson Prep has now won eight state titles in program history.

Allen Hughes, Clinton Boys Basketball:

Hughes led the Arrows with 19 points in a 48-45 second-round win over Center Hill in the 6A playoffs.

LeVionne Lindsey, Northwest Rankin Boys Basketball:

Lindsey had a game-high 22 points to lead Northwest Rankin to a second round 6A playoff win over Gulfport.

Kinsley Gordon, Myrtle Girls Basketball:

Scored 41 points to help Myrtle to a 58-46 win over East Union in the first round of the MHSAA 2A State Tournament.

Elise Jackson, Purvis Girls Basketball:

Scored 34 points to go with 12 rebounds and eight steals in a 47-39 win over Bay High in the first round of the MHSAA 4A State Tournament.

Jacob Keys, Brandon Baseball:

The Mississippi State commit went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, 4 RBIs, and a homerun in a 16-0 win against Seminary.

Zia Shields, Newton Girls Basketball:

Scored 38 points to help Newton to a 58-46 win over Puckett in the first round of the MHSAA 2A State Tournament.

Josh Hubbard, Madison-Ridgeland Academy Boys Basketball:

Hubbard scored 28 points in an overtime loss to Jackson Prep in the MAIS 6A State Championship Game. Madison-Ridgeland Academy will face Tunica on Wednesday in the first round of playoffs.

Kelcei Thomas, Newton County Girls Basketball:

Thomas had a career-high 23 points to lead Newton County to a 58-41 4A second round playoff win against Greene County.

Simaru Fields, Gulfport Girls Basketball:

Fields had a game-high 19 points in Gulfport's 62-44 6A second round playoff win over Northwest Rankin.

Ja’Keria Hawkins, Lake Cormorant Girls Basketball:

Scored 52 points against Neshoba Central last Friday.
