SB Live Mississippi Power 10, class-by-class rankings (Sept. 26)

A handful of upsets from last week led to big shakeups in the Mississippi high school football rankings

JACKSON — Week five is in the books, and we had a couple of upsets in Mississippi as most teams embarked on region play for the first time last weekend.

Three of the teams in last week's Power 10 lost on Friday night, but only one of them (Starkville) remains this week. Defending state champion Madison Central moved up after a big win over the then-No. 2 Yellowjackets, and Warren Central jumped from No. 8 to No. 6 thanks to a big road win over Oak Grove, which dropped from the Power 10 with its second-straight loss. In corresponding moves, Itawamba AHS and Oxford both moved into the Power 10.

There were several shake-ups in the class-by-class as well. In 5A, the Callaway Chargers and Florence Eagles are both ranked for the first time this year after big wins over Ridgeland and Laurel, respectively.
