How the teams in the SB Live Power 10 fared Friday night (Oct. 14 scores)

No. 6 Madison Central stumbled for the second week in a row, while No. 4 Tupelo and No. 7 Louisville picked up monster wins

Here’s a look at how the teams in the SB Live Power 10 Rankings fared Friday night.

No. 1 Brandon beat Meridian 48-15

Meridian took an early 7-0 lead, but the top-ranked Bulldogs (7-0) scored the next 48 points. Landon Varnes hooked up with Lester Miller on a couple of touchdown passes, and tailbacks Nate Blount and Jarvis Durr each had a pair of scoring runs.

No. 2 Ocean Springs beat Pascagoula 37-0

The offense played well, as usual, but the Greyhounds (7-0) really shined on defense in this one. Pascagoula (2-5) never earned a first down or crossed the 50-yard line.

No. 3 Picayune beat West Harrison 55-0

No Dante Dowdell, no problem. The Maroon Tide (8-0) rolled to another running-clock win over a pretty good West Harrison team without their star tailback, who was sidelined with a minor injury and should be back next week. Chris Davis picked up the slack, rushing for 149 yards and four touchdowns on nine carries and intercepting two passes on defense.

No. 4 Tupelo beat No. 6 Madison Central 34-0

The Golden Wave (8-0) took sole possession of first place in Region 2 with a convincing win over the defending 6A State Champions. Jeremiah Harrell passed for 198 yards and three touchdowns, and Qua Middlebrooks added 122 yards and two scores on the ground.

No. 5 Clinton lost to Oxford 24-22

Oxford junior William Wilkinson drilled a 33-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Chargers (4-3) to their biggest win of the season. The district loss was the first of the season for Clinton (4-3), which trails only Tupelo in the Region 2 standings.

No. 6 Madison Central lost to Tupelo 34-0

For the second week in a row, the Jaguars (4-3) couldn’t match their opponents offensively. The Tupelo defense held MC to 149 yards of total offense and picked off Louisiana Tech commit Vic Sutton twice.

No. 7 Louisville beat West Lauderdale 40-15

West Lauderdale cut the Louisville lead to 25-15 late in the third quarter, but the Wildcats (7-1) were just too strong down the stretch, handing the Knights their first loss of the season.

No. 8 Itawamba AHS beat Corinth 28-6

Isaac Smith racked up 171 yards of total offense, scored two touchdowns and brought in a pair of defensive interceptions to help the Indians (8-0) take sole possession of first place in Region 1-4A.

No. 9 Warren Central beat Pearl 38-21

Trey Hall and Mark Gray both ran for a pair of touchdowns as the Vikings (6-1) took care of business on the road. They are now one of three teams sitting at 3-1 in second place in Region 3, but they have beaten the other two head to head.

No. 10 Gulfport beat Harrison Central 29-19

Gavin Brown set the tone with an early 28-yard touchdown run as the Admirals (6-1) picked up their fifth win in a row and moved to 4-0 in Region 4-6A. They’ve got D’Iberville at home next week, with a showdown with No. 2 Ocean Spring looming on Oct. 28.
