A.J. Brown catches 45-yard TD pass in Super Bowl 2023; former Starkville WR starring on big stage

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown made the first big play of Super Bowl 2023.

With the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs tied at 7-7, Brown caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts on the first play of the second quarter to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead.

Brown, who starred at Starkville High School in Mississippi, has been making big plays his entire football career. In his senior season at Starkville he led the Yellow Jackets to the 2015 MHSAA 6A football state championship and caught 83 passes for 1,371 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Brown was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Eagles in April and had a huge season, catching 88 passes for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Brown comes back to Mississippi every offseason and works with the youth, including the 7-on-7 football camp he runs at Starkville High School in June. Last offseason he donated $25,000 to Starkville High School and bought new uniforms for the Noxubee County football team.

Brown also made a surprise appearance at Starkville High's Leadership Day last February.
