The sensational sophomore averaged 16.6 points a game and led the Falcons to the best record in Class 1A

JACKSON — The MHSAA and Mississippi Association of Coaches have announced Ingomar star sophomore Macie Phifer as the winner of the inaugural Class 1A Miss Basketball Award.

Phifer, the 5-foot-11 guard who led Ingomar to the state championship as a freshman last year, averaged 16.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and two steals a game in her sophomore year.

She's led Ingomar to an amazing 32-1 overall record, including a 73-19 win over West Union in the opening round of the Class 1A North Playoffs over the weekend.

The Falcons will host Hickory Flat in the second round Friday night.

The Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards are sponsored by C-Spire, and designed to honor "the best basketball player" in each MHSAA classification. The winners were voted in by a panel of media members and coaches from every corner of the state.
