Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Missouri high school athlete of the week for March 21-27. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. If you would like to make a nomination in a future week, email nate@scorebooklive.com. 

Clay Scott, Windsor baseball

Scott, a junior, went 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs during the Owls’ 13-3 win over Crystal City last Friday.

George Herron, MICDS boys lacrosse

The junior goalie notched 18 saves during the Rams’ 10-5 win over Memphis University School on March 26 in Ladue.

Romano Gines, Hazelwood boys track and field

Gines, a senior, took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.42 seconds at the Hazelwood Invitational on March 26 in Florissant.

Cecilia Ott, Jefferson R-VII girls track and field

Ott, only a freshman, nabbed first place in the triple jump at the Rebel Relays in Park Hills, Missouri, with a leap of 31 feet, 8 ¾ inches.

Jason Shaw, Fox boys track and field

Shaw, a junior, finished the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 55 seconds and 31 milliseconds, good enough for first place at the Rebel Relay on March 25.

Donovan Bohler, Vianney baseball

The senior outfielder went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to help Vianney beat Lindbergh 5-4 in the title game of the 52nd Annual Lindbergh/Mehlville Baseball Tournament.

Zai’Aire Thomas, Central (Cape Girardeau) boys track and field

Thomas is showing off early in his freshman season, finishing with a first-place time of 11.37 seconds in the 100-meter dash on March 25 at the Rebel Relays in Park Hills..

Nathaniel Caraballo, St. Louis Homeschool baseball

Caraballo, a senior catcher, went 2-for-2 with two runs and two talks during the Patriots’ 4-1 win over Chaminade last Saturday.

Marcy Miller, Lamar girls track and field

The junior nabbed first place in the girls high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 11 ¾ inches at the Nevada Tiger Invitational 202 in Nevada, Missouri. 

Kevin Watkins, Parkway South baseball

The senior utility — pitcher, infielder and outfielder — went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs during the Patriots’ 9-2 win over Clayton last Friday. Watkins stole two bases on two attempts.

Jasmine Carter, Hazelwood girls track and field

The senior was the clear favorite in the shot put at the Hazelwood Invitational on March 26, finished with a first-place throw of 33 feet and 9 ½ inches. Carter’s throw was more than 8 feet longer than second place.

Tyler Renn, Eugene baseball

Renn made a mark in the first pitching performance of his senior season, going six full innings while only allowing two hits and no earned runs during the Eagles’ 10-0 win over Eldon.

Maury Sullivan, Normandy boys track and field

Sullivan, a junior, had a high jump mark of 18 feet and 11 ¼ inches to finish first at the Hazelwood Invitational on March 26 in Florissant, Missouri.

Greg West, Windsor baseball

West was absolutely dealing during the Owls’ 11-1 win over Herculaneum, striking out 12 batters in four innings while only allowing three hits and the opposing team’s single run.

Alia VandenBrink, Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience girls track and field

VandenBrink, just a sophomore, had a first-place time of 12.71 seconds in the 100-meter dash at the Hazelwood Invitational on March 26 in Florissant.

Isabella Marcum, Fox girls track and field

Marcum blew the competition away with a first-place time of 11 minutes, 35 seconds and 43 milliseconds in the 3,200-meter run at the Rebel Relays on March 25. The junior finished a minute and 25 seconds before second place.

Adam Kluhsman, Lamar boys track and field

Just a sophomore, Kluhsman finished the 200-meter dash with a first-place time of 23.60 seconds at the Nevada Tiger Invitational 2022 on March 26 in Nevada, Missouri.

Ciara McDonald, Festus girls track and field

Mcdonald, a sophomore, threw for a first-place mark of 32.26 meters in the javelin at the McCullough-Douglas Invitational on March 26 in Festus, Missouri.

Tyler Charlton, CBC baseball

Charlton, a senior pitcher, struck out 10 of the first 13 batters he faced en route to an 11-strikeout performance during CBC’s 4-0 win against De Smet last Friday.

Anthony Vance, Nevada boys track and field

Vance completed the 300-meter hurdles in 44.60 seconds, a time good enough for the senior to finish in first place at the Nevada Tiger Invitational 2022 on March 26.
