Staley boys basketball standout Kayden Fish commits to Iowa State

The Staley forward picked the Cyclones over Xavier, Boston College and others.

Staley senior forward Kayden Fish announced on Instagram Live on Monday night that he is committing to Iowa State. 

The Cyclones extended a scholarship offer to the bouncy 6-foot-6, 205-pound forward on July 27, one day after Fish received an offer from Boston College and one day after his MoKan Elite Basketball teammate Omaha Biliew pledged to Iowa State.

Biliew and Fish helped MoKan Elite win the prestigious Peach Jam tournament on July 26. Fish scored 13 points in the championship game victory.

Fish is a three-star prospect rated as the No. 44 forward prospect in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports. Rivals also ranks Fish as a three-start prospect.

Fish picked Iowa State over an offer list that included Boston College Xavier, Missouri State, Charlotte, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Colorado State, Indiana State, Davidson, Rice, Illinois-Chicago, UMKC and more.

Fish led Staley to a 27-5 record and a third-place finish in Missouri’s Class 6 tournament last season. Fish tallied a team-high 16 points in 20 minutes in a semifinal loss to Nixa, but bounced back with 18 points and eight rebounds in a big win over Chaminade in the third-place game.
