Top standouts, best performances in Week 8 of the Missouri high school football season

Listed below are some of the top standouts and performers from Week 8 high school football games throughout the Show-Me State: 

Briggs Bartosh, QB, Park Hill South

He helped the Panthers pick up a 49-23 win over Platte County with four total touchdowns. He ran for 76 yards and two scores and was 10-for-19 passing for 141 yards and two more touchdowns, including an 89-yard pass to Darrien Jones in the third quarter.

Jack Behl, QB, Lafayette (Wildwood)

The sophomore threw two touchdowns late to help the Lancers pick up a 48-47 win over Ritenour. The game-winner was his 6-yard touchdown pass to Zae Jones with 24 seconds left. Behl was 41-for-73 passing for 389 yards and four total touchdowns.

Kendrick Bell, QB, Park Hill

In a 48-33 loss, Bell accounted for nearly 500 yards of total offense. He was 35-for-48 passing for 363 yards and five touchdowns – to four different receivers. He ran the ball 25 times for 169 yards.

Landon Boston, RB, Washington

Boston accounted for three first-half touchdowns and a two-point conversion to help Washington build a 43-0 lead over Wentzville North Point – on the way 56-15 victory. Boston had a pair of 3-yard runs and caught an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Kemper Cline, QB, Albany

No. 3-ranked Albany picked up a 46-12 win over No. 10-ranked King City in 8-man action on Thursday. The senior accounted for six total touchdowns in the victory for the Warriors.

Morgan Diamond, QB, Cape Girardeau Central

Diamond had four touchdown passes to four different players to help the Tigers pick up a 56-7 win over DeSoto.

Creighton Ervin, SB, Timberland

He caught touchdown passes of 45 and 64 yards from A.J. Raines and added a 31-yard touchdown run during the 34-point first quarter. The Wolves would pick up a 61-21 win over Francis Howell North.

Clay Finch, RB, Hamilton Penney

Scored four times in the first half and accounted for two scores in the 36-point first quarter. He had 139 yards on 14 carries. The Hornets hammered Plattsburg, 58-14, in a KCI Conference game.

Mason Frisinger, ST, Carthage

The Joplin Eagles were going for the game-winning field goal with 2.5 seconds left. Instead, it was blocked and Frisinger picked it up and ran it back 80 yards for a 34-28 win in a showdown of two state-ranked teams.

Breckin Galardo, RB, Webb City

Galardo ran for a pair of scores in a 42-21 win over Neosho in a Central Ozark Conference game. Galardo had scoring runs of 20 and 33 yards and finished with 236 yards – as the Cardinals’ rushing attack had 427 yards.

Trevion Hulsey, RB, Webster Groves

The Statesmen snapped a 21-game losing streak with a 27-13 win over Northwest (Cedar Hill) on Friday. The junior ran for 143 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns.

Logan Kuechler, K, Rockhurst

He booted a 28-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Hawklets to a 17-14 win over St. Louis University High in a Kansas City vs. St. Louis matchup of parochial powerhouse programs.

Owen Merrell, QB, Holt

The Indians got five total touchdowns from Merrell in a 34-21 win over Jackson. He ran for three touchdowns, the longest a 50-yard score. He ran for a score and passed for another in the third quarter, turning a 21-14 lead into a 35-14 advantage.

Chance Moreland, QB, Excelsior Springs

The signal-caller ran for three touchdowns in the second half to help the Tigers secure a 34-27 conference win against Raytown South. Moreland had four total touchdowns on the ground and ran for 217 yards on 32 carries.

Xavier Morris, RB, Warrensburg

Morris ran for three touchdowns to help the Tigers pick up a 65-7 win over Clinton. His longest score was from 49 yards away as Warrensburg led 44-7 at halftime over the Cardinals.

Zane Palmer, RB, Odessa

The Bulldogs held on for a 36-35 win against Chillicothe in a non-conference victory. Palmer ran for four touchdowns, including one that made it 36-13 in the third quarter. He racked up 221 yards on 28 carries.

Mark Panagos, QB/DB, Scott City

Scott City beat Charleston 49-14 to claim its first conference championship since 2004. The junior signal caller ran for 196 yards and three touchdowns and threw for 88 yards and another touchdown in the victory. He also tied a MSHSAA record with a 99-yard pick-six.

Juan Rivera, RB, Jasper

The senior scored six touchdowns on 19 carries and rolled up 211 yards in a 48-24 win over College Heights Christian in 8-man action.

Makai Robinson, RB, Chaminade 

The ninth grader ran for 103 yards on 11 carries and scored twice as Chaminade beat Gateway Steam, 42-0.

Bear Shore, QB, Camdenton

The senior ran for four touchdowns and tossed a 46-yard pass to Kam Durnin in the second half to help No. 14 Camdenton beat No. 9 Lebanon, 45-28.

Logan Slinkard, QB, Lutheran South

Passed for four touchdowns and ran for three more to help the Lancers to a 68-32 win over Bishop DuBourg. Slinkard had touchdown runs of 49 and 1 yards in the first half and threw two of his four touchdowns in the third quarter.

Jobe Smith, RB, North County

The senior ran for four touchdowns in the first half to help North County pick up a 45-14 win over Potosi on Thursday. Smith added his longest scoring run on a 54-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. He had 254 yards on 18 carries.

Trenton Volmert, RB, St. Francis Borgia

The senior carried the ball 11 times and scored four times in a 51-13 win over Fredricktown. Volmert had 117 yards rushing and three of his four touchdowns came in the second half.

Anthony Wenson, RB, Liberty

The Air Force pledge was a workhorse in a 48-28 win over Lee’s Summit, with 35 carries out of Liberty’s 60 plays. He ran for 299 yards and had three touchdowns.

Cam Zaun, QB, St. Michael the Archangel

The Guardians improved to 7-1 on the year with a 47-20 win over Hogan Prep, matching the school record for wins in a season. The Lee’s Summit school’s first-year starter ran for 83 yards and two scores and threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
