Here are the candidates for SBLive's Missouri High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 24-29 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff.

Jackson Basham, Camdenton soccer

Scored a goal in a 4-1 win over Branson in the district tournament in Springfield. His goal was the 30th of the year, which is a new Camdenton school record

Kendrick Bell, Park Hill football

He helped his Trojans down the field with no timeouts and 87 yards away to beat Rockhurst, 49-42, by throwing a touchdown with 20 seconds left. Bell was 21 of 33 passing for 357 yards with three touchdowns, while running for 90 more yards and pair of scores.

Emma Cathey, Marceline softball

Her RBI single in the top of the seventh was the game-winning hit to lift Marceline to a 3-2 win over Sherwood in the Class 2 championship game on Saturday.

Will Dodson, Cape Girardeau Notre Dame soccer

Recorded a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Festus in a Class 3 District 1 playoff game on Saturday.

Zander Dombrowski, Raymore-Peculiar football

The signal caller for the Panthers accounted for six touchdowns in a win against Joplin. He was 18 of 23 passing for 308 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 86 yards and two scores.

Rickie Dunn, Battle football

The senior helped Battle beat Capital City, 34-14, and avenge an earlier season loss. He ran for 196 yards and four scores in the victory.

Max Ervie, St. Pius X KC football

In a showdown of Midland Empire Conference schools, the Warriors won 49-6 against Cameron. Ervie threw for 144 yards and a score, while rushing 27 times for 192 yards and six touchdowns.

Ian Everett, Liberty swimming & diving

Won the 100-yard freestyle and set a pool record in the event (46.12) at the Suburban Conference Silver finals on Saturday. He also won the 200 freestyle and was on the 200 freestyle relay team that took first.

Xavier Goodall, Fort Zumwalt East football

Ran for a school-record six touchdowns and 307 yards, while adding five tackles on defense in a 44-14 win against St. Charles.

Nikolas Gossett, Greenfield football

In a 78-50 win against Rich Hill in 8-man playoff action, Gossett had four interceptions and returned two of them for scores.

Reese Gray, Lesterville volleyball

The senior became MSHSAA all-time kill leader on Oct. 10 (1,909) and a little more than two weeks later she went over 2,000 for her career in a 3-0 win over South Iron in the Class 1 District 6 finals.

Grant Gibson, Summit football

A junior quarterback, Gibson complete 10 of 14 passes for 218 yards and six touchdowns in the first half of the Falcons' 68-14 district win over Pacific. 

Elysia Hand, Kearney softball

The Bulldogs won the Class 4 championship game with a 14-9 win over Helias Catholic behind a record-setting day from Hand. She had two home runs — a grand slam and a three-run homer – and drove in an MSHSAA-record eight runs in a final.

Addy Horn, Staley volleyball

The season ended with a loss to Park Hill in the district tournament but the senior had 15 assists and set a new school record with 2,000 assists in her career.

Jermaine House Jr., North Kansas City football

The senior scored the final three touchdowns of the game to help the Hornets rally for a win in overtime, 34-28, over St. Joseph Central. He ran for 226 yards on 25 carries.

Emma Hultz, Canton softball

In a four-run fifth inning, she had a two-run double to help Canton rally to beat Polo, 4-2, in the Class 1 championship game.

Faith Jaegers, Fatima softball

Delivered what was the game-winning hit in a 16-14 win over Chillicothe in the Class 3 softball championship game. She had a pair of hits and drove in three runs as her team rallied from a 13-4 deficit.

Uchan Kohring, Rockhurst soccer

The sophomore had a pair of goals to help Rockhurst win the opening round of the district tournament on Saturday.

Kenyan Larkin, St. Joseph Central swimming & diving

The sophomore broke a new school record by swimming the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.79 at the Suburban Conference meet on Saturday.

Parker Long, Seneca volleyball

Recorded 16 kills and 10 digs to help the Indians beat Mountain Grove, 3-0, in the Class 3 playoffs. It was the first-ever playoff game for Seneca.

Macie Nolie, Sullivan volleyball

The senior recorded 12 digs in a win against Salem in the Class 3 District 9 finals, a 3-1 win for the Eagles. She surpassed 1,000 career digs in the victory.

Ryley Posey, Northwest cross country

The senior qualified for the Class 5 championship for the fourth time, becoming only the second girl in school history to accomplish that feat.

Cole Ruble, Seckman football

Seckman picked up 50-41 win over SLUH behind another big day from the run-first quarterback. Ruble had 328 yards and seven touchdowns on 41 carries in the contest.

Chris Stone, Dexter cross country

Ran 16:59.14 to place eighth overall in the Class 3 District 1 meet, setting the stage as three teammates followed in 9th, 10th, and 11th. That helped the Bearcats advance to state as a team for the first time since 1971.

Devin Stutsman, Highland football

The senior had only three catches but made the most of it with three touchdowns and 153 yards receiving in a 32-16 win over Mark Twain. The Cougars, the sixth seed, knocked off the third seed and picked up win No. 2 on the year.

Rommie Turner, Charleston football

The senior ran the ball 25 times for 207 yards and two scores and also picked off a pass that led to a touchdown he took into the end zone against Caruthersville.

Joseph Wermuth, Webb City soccer

His goal came in the 98th minute to end a marathon game against McDonald County, 1-0, in the regular-season finale on Oct. 28.

Abbie Wilhelm, Blue Springs South softball

Went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and drove in three runs – including hitting a two-run homer in a 10-2 win over Francis Howell in the Class 5 softball title game.

Preston Zuber, Liberty North swimming & diving

Took first place and set a new school record in the 200-yard individual medley at the Suburban Conference finals on Saturday.


Congratulations to Fatima softball's Taylor Baumhoer, who was voted the SBLive Missouri Athlete of the Week for Oct. 17-22 after receiving more than 48 percent of the votes.

Baumhoer struck out 14 batters in a 9-0 win in the Class 3 quarterfinals against Seneca. She retired 19 straight Indians to end the game after a double in the first.

Capital City soccer player Clayton Hamler was second with more than 30 percent of the total votes.
