Cardinal Ritter senior standout safety Marvin Burks Jr. had a good weekend in Columbia. 

On Saturday, Burks starred as the Lions won their first state championship with a 46-7 victory over Reeds Spring in the Missouri Class 3 championship game at Faurot Field on the campus of the University of Missouri. 

A running back-safety, Burks rushed for 118 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries and led the Ritter defense with nine tackles and 2 1/2 tackles for loss. 

On Sunday, Burks announced on his Twitter account that he was flipping his commitment from Ole Miss to Mizzou.

A 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back, Burks comes Missouri's 16th known commitment for the 2023 recruiting cycle. The four-star prospect is the seventh in-state commitment and the fourth from the St. Louis area, joining Francis Howell tight end Brett Norfleet, Troy Buchanan defensive end Jahkai Lang and St. Mary's running back Jamal Roberts. 

The 247Sports Composite rankings have Burks as the 10th-best prospect in Missouri, the 31st-best safety prospect nationally and the 316th-best prospect in the Class of 2023. 

Burks announced a list of five finalists on Oct. 19 that included Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Missouri, LSU and Oklahoma. He committed to Ole Miss two days later.
