Class 5 girls third-place game: Marshfield 47, Smithville 32

CLASS 5

Class 5 girls championship game: John Burroughs 57, Lutheran St. Charles 41

The John Burroughs girls basketball team captured its second state title in three seasons behind a game-high 24 points from Gonzaga-bound senior guard Allie Turner. 

BreAunna Ward added 10 points for Burroughs (29-3), which won the Class 4 championship two years ago. Alice Crowley scored eight points and Moriyah Douglass added seven.

Jordan Speiser led Lutheran St. Charles (26-5) with 15 points and a game high 13 rebounds. 

Burroughs got off to a start start behind Allie Turner and Alice Crowley to take a 20-11 lead after one quarter. Turner had eight points in the first quarter and Crowley added seven. 

Burroughs led 35-23 at halftime with Turner scoring 15 points. Jordan Speiser led Lutheran with seven points in the first half.  

Class 5 boys championship game: De Smet 75, Jefferson City 56

Juniors Dillon Duff and Riley Massey led the way as the Spartans used another strong start and hot 3-point shooting to win the sixth state championship in school history – and first since 1999.

Massey had 21 points, six rebounds and six assists and Duff had 17 points (with five 3-pointers) and seven rebounds to lead De Smet (27-5). Freshman guard Will Foulk added 12 points off the bench. 

Junior standout Jordan Martin led Jefferson City (12-20) with 23 points and 10 rebounds – both game highs – while sophomore guard Rowen Buffington added 12 points.  

Just like in its semifinal win, De Smet came out strong and knocking down perimeter jumpers and surging out to an early lead. 

Duff scored nine of the Spartans' first 12 points and had 15 in the first quarter. 

The Spartans led 42-24 at halftime after knocking down 10 3-pointers in the first half – on just 11 attempts! – with Duff sinking five and Riley Massey hitting three. Duff scored 15 points in the first half and Massey added 13.

Martin led Jefferson City with 14 points in the first half.  

Class 4

Class 4 girls championship game: Lift for Life 75, Park Hills Central 57 

Lift for Life broke open a close game with a 30-point third quarter and rolled from there to win in the Missouri Class 4 girls basketball title.

Freshman guard Amaya Manuel had 19 points, six rebounds and six steals for Lift for Life (28-3). Sophomore guard Zha'Viarra Harris had 18 points, nine steals and five assists. Senior forward Paige Fowler had 13 points and 16 rebounds. Freshman guard Cara Manuel added 11 points and sophomore guard Diamond Polk scored 10. 

Senior guard Khloe Dischbein led Park Hills Central (27-5) with a game-high 24 points.
