Congratulations to Butte boys basketball guard Jace Stenson for being voted SBLive’s Montana High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 31-Feb. 6!

The junior scored an impressive 31 points in 61-55 victory over Flathead.

Stenson ran away with this week’s honor, receiving 95.6% of the total vote.

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for Jan. 31-Feb. 6:

Damon Gros Ventre, Lodge Grass: Set two records in a 108-70 victory over Huntley Project, scoring a Montana state single-game record of 71 points, which in the process broke the school scoring record (now 2,047 points) held since 1990 By Elvis Old Bull (1,948), who incidentally is Gros Ventre’s great uncle. Added 20 more in a 74-70 victory over No. 4 Lame Deer the very next night, then added another 41 points in a 93-57 win over St. Labre.

Journey Emerson, Lame Deer: Ended his week by eclipsing the state single-game record for points, set just a few days earlier by Damon Gros Ventre, with 82 in a 111-27 victory over Forsyth. This after he poured in 39 points in a 105-67 victory over St. Labre then scored 35 in a 74-70 loss to No. 1 Lodge Grass earlier in the week.

Walker Doman, Winnett-Grass Range: Exploded for 35 points in a 63-32 victory over Geraldine-Highwood.

Joe Demontiney, Rocky Boy: Scored 31 points in a 73-64 upset victory over No. 9 Malta and had 25 in a 71-66 loss to Fairfield.

Jace Stenson, Butte: Had 31 points in 61-55 victory over Flathead.

Nadan White Clay, St. Labre: Scored 31 points in a 93-57 loss to No. 1 Lodge Grass.

Brayden Cline, Big Sandy: Scored a game-high 35 points in a 59-55 victory over North Star.

Ty Moccasin, Lodge Grass: Grabbed a school-record 33 rebounds in a 93-57 victory over St. Labre.

Paige Lofing, Huntley Project: Scored 44 points in a 72-61 loss to Lodge Grass, and had 22 in a 67-53 win over Columbus.

Jordan Jefferson, Lodge Grass: Scored 34 points in a 72-61 victory over Huntley Project then added 21 in a 61-59 win over Lame Deer.

Payton Levine, Augusta: Scored 39 points in a 70-65 victory over Great Falls Homeschool.

Ava Bellach, Manhattan Christian: Scored a game-high 31 points in a 74-46 victory over Gardiner then added 27 the next night in a 74-42 win over Sheridan.

Ellie Reinertson, Gardiner: Scored 30 points in a 63-45 victory over White Sulpher Springs.

Tia Dees, Nashua: Scored a game-high 29 points in a 56-37 victory over Brockton.
