Top stars, best performances from Week 10 (Oct. 28-30) in Texas high school football
From Frisco Liberty QB Keldric Luster (667 yards, 7 total TDs) to Pilot Point WR Aydon Cox (310 receiving yards, 4 TDs), several players stood out with eye-popping performances across the state during Week 10 of the 2021 Texas high school football season.
Here’s a look at the top individual performances around the Lone Star State for Oct. 28-30.

TOP STARS IN TEXAS HS FOOTBALL FOR OCT. 28-30:
PASSING STARS
Chad Pharies, Wolfforth Frenship QB
Pharies threw for 333 yards and five touchdowns on 20-of-27 passing in a 63-41 win against Odessa. He also ran 15 times for 165 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Aidan Lara, San Antonio O’Connor QB
In Saturday’s game against San Antonio Taft, Lara was 15-of-21 passing for 294 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 17 yards on 13 carries in a 35-28 win.
Keldric Luster, Frisco Liberty QB
Luster threw for 461 yards and six TDs on 22-of-33 passing and also ran for 206 yards and a rushing score on 25 carries in a 49-44 win over Denison.
Alexander Franklin, Lucas Lovejoy QB
Franklin threw for 197 yards and four touchdowns on 10-of-15 passing in a 55-7 win against Frisco Lebanon Trail.
Jackson Gutierrez, San Antonio Jay QB
Gutierrez threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns on 11-of-17 passing in a 37-23 win against San Antonio Stevens. He also ran 15 times for 131 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Gage Roy, Dallas Jesuit QB
Thursday’s game against Irving saw Roy complete 10 of 12 passes for 192 yards and four TDs in a 44-0 victory.
Cruz Kirwan, San Antonio Johnson QB
In Friday’s game against San Antonio Reagan, Kirwan went 21-of-39 for 383 yards with five touchdowns in a 46-43 overtime win to help Johnson stay undefeated and capture the District 28-6A title.
Harrison Rosar, Prosper QB
In Friday’s game against Allen, Rosar was 20-of-33 passing for 335 yards and three touchdown passes in a 42-35 win. Rosar also ran for 31 yards on nine carries.
Rashawn Galloway, Boerne QB
Galloway completed 16 of 37 passes for 291 yards and four TDs in a 41-26 win over La Vernia on Friday.
Cergio Perez, Garland QB
Perez went 20-of-29 for 266 yards and six passing TDs in a 41-14 victory over Rowlett on Friday.
Caden Dotson, Lake Highlands QB
Dotson was 15-of-17 passing for 343 yards and four TDs in a 52-14 win over Richardson.
Xavier Tellez, San Antonio Lanier QB
In Friday’s game against San Antonio Memorial, Tellez was 7-of-14 passing for 142 yards and a passing touchdown in a 40-7 blowout. He also ran for 115 yards and two rushing scores on 15 carries.
Brady Dever, Fort Bend Christian QB
Martinez threw for 306 yards and five TDs on 23-of-36 passing in a dominant 49-7 win over Lutheran South.
Braedyn Locke, Rockwall QB
Locke completed 25 of 40 pass attempts for 479 yards and six touchdown throws in a 52-26 victory against Mesquite Horn. Locke (119) also passed former Allen Eagles and current Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (117) as the all-time career passing touchdowns leader in 6A Texas high school football history. Jackson Warren, Flower Mound Marcus QB
Warren was 17-of-25 passing for 211 yards and three touchdown throws in a 40-27 win over previously unbeaten Lewisville.
D’vonne Hmielewski, Sealy QB
Hmielewski threw for 217 yards and five TDs on 12-of-18 passing and ran for 52 yards and a rushing touchdown on seven carries in a 58-7 victory against Wharton in district play.
Tommy Dixson, Ferris QB
Dixson threw for 256 yards and five touchdowns on 14-of-19 passing and added a 35-yard touchdown run in a 48-6 win over Venus.
Hunter Curl, McAllen QB
Curl went 11-of-15 for 212 yards and five TDs in McHi’s 65-7 win over Brownsville Lopez on Friday. He also ran for 55 yards and a rushing touchdown on five carries.
Andrew Martinez, El Paso Eastwood QB
Martinez threw for 215 yards and five touchdowns on 18-of-124 passing and also ran for 110 yards on five carries in a 41-19 win over El Paso Coronado.
Brendan Sorsby, Lake Dallas QB
Sorsby threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns on 16-of-29 passing in a 48-38 win against Frisco Memorial. Sorsby also ran for 177 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 28 carries.
Gavin Rutherford, Katy Cinco Ranch QB
Rutherford completed 15 of 21 passes for 423 yards and six TDs in a 55-16 victory against Katy Morton Ranch. He also ran for three yards and a rushing touchdown on six carries.
Demetrius Charles, Channelview QB
Charles threw for 139 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-21 passing and also ran for 186 yards and three rushing TDs on 22 carries in a 52-13 win over South Houston.
RUSHING STARS
Chris Goertz, San Antonio Clark RB
Goertz rushed for 148 yards and three TDs on nine carries in Clark’s 70-3 district win over San Antonio MacArthur on Saturday.
Byron Phillips, Denton Guyer RB
Phillips ran for 118 yards and two rushing scores on 27 carries and also caught a 39-yard touchdown pass in a 45-31 win in Guyer’s regular-season finale against Little Elm.
Jaydon Bailey, Cibolo Steele RB
In a 35-30 district victory against Converse Judson to clinch at least a share of the District 27-6A title, Bailey rushed 22 times for 175 yards and three touchdowns.
Chris Henley Jr, DeSoto RB
Henley toted the ball 28 times for 265 yards and two rushing TDs in DeSoto’s 54-35 victory over Mansfield Lake Ridge.

Bryce Burgess, Pearland Dawson RB
Burgess rushed 13 times for 221 yards and four rushing TDs in a 34-6 win over Alief Elsik on Thursday.
Rodney Talton Jr, Arlington RB
Talton rushed for 230 yards and four TDs on 42 carries in a 52-17 win against Arlington Lamar. He also caught two passes for 78 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Ollie Gordon, Euless Trinity RB
Gordon rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries in a 42-0 victory against Haltom.
Jared White, Frisco Wakeland RB
White ran the ball 11 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns in Wakeland’s 56-0 win over Denton. He also caught two passes for 18 receiving yards.
Ashton Jeanty, Frisco Lone Star RB
Jeanty ran 25 times for 232 yards and three TDs in a 49-6 win against The Colony on Friday night. He also recorded four receptions for 50 yards.
Reuben Owens, El Campo RB
Owens carried the ball 18 times for 320 yards and five touchdowns to become the one of three players to rush for 2,000 yards in Texas high school football this season in El Campo’s 63-42 win over Columbia.
Re’Shaun Sanford, Killeen Harker Heights RB
Sanford became the state’s leading rusher (2,057 yards) and the first back from Killeen to tally 2,000 rushing yards in a single season after he ran for 178 yards and four TDs on 15 carries in Harker Heights’ 64-14 win over Copperas Cove.
Owen Allen, Southlake Carroll RB
Allen rushed 20 times for 247 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in Carroll’s 42-7 victory against Keller Timber Creek.
Tylik Burton, Alvin Shadow Creek RB
Burton tallied 233 rushing yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in addition to two receptions for 10 yards in a 34-27 road win over Pearland on Friday night.
Ryan Sheppard, Austin Vandegrift RB
Sheppard rushed 22 times for 210 yards and three touchdowns and added a five-yard reception in Vandegrift’s 49-9 victory over Hutto.
PJ Rivera, Edinburg Vela RB
In a 35-7 victory against Mission to help Vela finish the regular season undefeated, Rivera ran 13 times for 75 yards and two rushing TDs and caught two passes for 60 yards and a receiving touchdown.
J’den Hall, Irving Nimitz RB
Hall carried the ball 20 times for 212 yards and three rushing touchdowns in a 35-32 win over Richardson Pearce.
Makhilyn Young, Midland Legacy RB
Young ran 22 times for 211 yards and two TDs in a 69-28 win against San Angelo Central on Friday night. He also recorded three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Ryan Williams, Aledo RB
Williams toted the ball 21 times for 195 yards and three rushing TDs in Aledo’s 55-21 victory over Arlington Seguin.
Jadarian Price, Denison RB
Price ran for 308 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries and caught two passes for 32 yards in a 49-44 loss to Frisco Liberty on Friday.
RECEIVING STARS
Landon Ransom-Goelz, Trophy Club Byron Nelson WR
Ransom-Goelz caught six passes for 194 yards and three TDs in a 42-28 win over Keller on Thursday.
Owen Carter, Cy-Fair WR
Carter snagged five receptions for 114 yards and two touchdowns in a 54-15 win over Cypress Ridge.
Dylan Gordon, San Antonio Jay WR
Gordon recorded four receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-23 win against San Antonio Stevens on Saturday.
Luke Knight, Prosper Rock Hill WR
Knight tallied nine catches for a touchdown and 225 of his team’s 309 total receiving yards in a 35-28 loss to Frisco.
Caleb Douglas, Fort Bend Hightower WR
Douglas caught both of his team’s two total receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns in a shutout win against Houston Milby.
Andrew Maleski, Cypress Bridgeland WR
Maleski hauled in four passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-0 victory over Cypress Lakes.
Chase Sowell, Humble Atascocita WR
Sowell caught four passes for 127 yards and two TDs in a 31-21 loss to Galena Park North Shore on Friday.
Javaan Evans, Lake Dallas WR
Evans caught eight passes for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 48-38 win against Frisco Memorial.
Gabriel Van Wyk, Fort Bend Travis WR
Van Wyk tallied six receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown in a 52-6 win over Fort Bend Elkins.
