Oxford, Mississippi, has a population of 27,662.

On Thursday, Oxford High School alum DK Metcalf inked a contract extension that included a $30 million signing bonus, a record for an NFL wide receiver.

The full extension for the Seattle Seahawks receiver, first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, is for three years, $72 million, $58.2 million guaranteed.

The deal comes after extensive talks between Metcalf and the Seahawks regarding an extension. He previously shut down rumors that he was being considered for a trade.

Metcalf, 24, has 216 catches for 3,170 yards and 29 touchdowns in his first three seasons in the NFL.

He had 224 catches for 3,302 receiving yards and 49 touchdowns in his four-year high school career at Oxford before going on to star for his hometown college, Ole Miss. Metcalf also starred in track and field at Oxford.

The son of former NFL and Ole Miss offensive lineman Terrence Metcalf quickly became one of the most feared receivers in the league after the Seahawks drafted him in the second round in 2019.

Now Seattle has secured his services through 2025.
