Dante Turner, Mount Dora (Florida) running back, voted SBLive's National Athlete of the Week (Sept. 18-25)

Turner received 36.8 percent of the vote for the award, edging out Kaden Amigon of Columbus (Iowa)

Mount Dora (Fla.) running back Dante Turner is SBLive's National Athlete of the Week for Sept. 18-25, as voted by fans. 

He logged 33 carries for 251 yards and three touchdowns in a thrilling comeback win over South Lake and received 36.8 percent of the votes cast nationwide.

Turner received 15,262 of the 41,466 total votes, edging out Columbus (Iowa) running back Kaden Amigon, whose 302-yard, six touchdown performance led led his team to a 53-28 win over Pekin.

In total, 22 players were nominated after putting up standout performances. Here is a breakdown of the total vote:

Kaden Amigon, Columbus (Iowa) football

The junior tail back turned 19 carries into 302 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 53-28 shootout over Pekin.

Lynel Billups-Williams, Crete-Monee (Illinois) football

Senior wide receiver caught 12 passes for 256 receiving yards and three touchdowns, in addition to a kick return for touchdown, in a 48-42 win over Joliet Catholic.

Jemall Brumfield, Franklin (Oregon) football

Senior rushed for three touchdowns and returned an interception for a fourth in a 35-14 win over Lincoln in a Portland Interscholastic League game.

Daquan Burroughs, Johnsonville (South Carolina) football

This is what you call taking over. Burroughs ran 30 times for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns in a thrilling 37-36 win over Hannah-Pamplico, scoring on runs of 20, 16 and 4 yards.

Quentin Cobb-Butler, Woodbury (Minnesota) football

Did seemingly everything except drive the team bus. The junior ran back the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown, returned an interception for another score and made a point-after kick in a 20-7 win over Burnsville on Friday.

Santana Crayton, Pleasure Ridge Park (Kentucky) football

He returned two first quarter punts for touchdown in a win over Western to put his team up 14-0 — the first from 64 yards and the other 54 yards out.

Adam Damante, ALA-Gilbert North (Arizona) football

Went 26-for-38 passing for 464 yards and seven touchdowns to lead a 55-35 road win over Prescott.

Jonah Dawson, Rancho Cucamonga (California) football

How's this for a productive night? He caught nine passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-21 win over Vista Murrieta.

Jack Driskill, Logos (Idaho) football

Recorded 544 yards of offense and nine total touchdowns. That included 362 yards and five scores through the air. He also intercepted three passes on defense in a 66-56 shootout win over Lapwai.

Elijah Favela, Converse Judson (Texas) football

Favela completed 33 of 39 passes for 443 yards and five touchdowns with 49 rushing yards to lead the Rockets to a 60-50 shootout win over Midland Legacy.

Josh Ficklin, Bentonville (Arkansas) football

Rushed 14 times for 141 yard, three rushing touchdowns and another on an 85-yard kickoff return in a 45-17 win over Springdale Har-Ber.

Eugene Gibbons, St. Ignatius (Ohio) football

Had a total of five sacks, a program record for most sacks in a single game, in St. Ignatius' 21-14 comeback win over River Rouge (Michigan).

Jonanthony Hall, Fishers (Indiana) football

How's this for an ice-cold heat check? After Avon scored a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, Hall took the ensuing kickoff 91 yards to lift Fishers back to a 21-17 win. It was the only time the sophomore that night receiver had the ball in his hands.

Trey Holly, Union Parish football

The LSU commit became Louisiana’s all-time leading rusher during the Farmers’ 62-12 win against Bastrop on Friday, rushed 21 times for 250 yards and four touchdowns. He now has 8,708 career rushing yards.

Ethen Knox, Oil City (Pennsylvania) football

A high bar must be cleared to earn a national athlete of the week nomination in a losing effort. Here's the rare exception. The junior running back went over 400 yards rushing for the fourth consecutive week, turning 45 carries into 432 yards and three touchdowns in a 21-20 loss to Northwestern.

Fredrick Moore, Cardinal Ritter (Missouri) football

Doesn't get much closer to perfection than this: three catches for 130 yards and three receiving touchdowns on offense and an interception on defense.

Dallas Sauser, Ames (Iowa) football

Set a new state record with 590 passing yards and six touchdowns in a 57-28 win over Sioux City North. The previous state mark was 583 by Porter Hummel of West Sioux in 2014.

Jalyn Stanford, Jenks (Oklahoma) football

Trojans' running back contributed to a 235-yard team rushing performance, caught a touchdown pass and returned a pick 25 yards for touchdown in a 55-28 win against Enid.

Andrew Stockton, Grass Lake (Michigan) football

Rushed for 246 yards on 21 attempts and two touchdowns, as well as an additional receiving touchdown, in Grass Lake's 36-29 win over Michigan Center.

Dante Turner, Mount Dora (Florida) football

Took 33 carries for 251 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-47 comeback thriller win over South Lake.

Exavier Williams, Hoover (California) football

Finished with 283 all-purpose yards and logged an interception and kick return for touchdown in a win over Maranatha Christian.

Nick Woodford, Northeast (Georgia) football

Put up his third consecutive game with 200-or-more yards, going for 275 rushing yards and six touchdowns in a 67-27 win over Southwest.
