Each week, SBLive gathers the best high school performances across the country with the help of fans, readers and staff.

We've separated boys and girls because of how many great performances there are each week. Now it's your turn to choose a standout among the pack, the best of the best.

Here are the nominees for SBLive's Boys Athlete of the Week for May 29-June 4. Voting closes on Sunday, June 11 at 11:59 (Pacific Time) and winners are announced on Mondays.

Boys national athlete of the week nominees

Simeon Birnbaum, Stevens (South Dakota)

Birnbaum was one of four high schoolers to break the four-minute barrier in the mile at the HOKA Festival of Miles, topping the field with a nation-leading time of 3:57.53. Birnbaum is an Oregon signee.

Austin Campbell, Franklin (Massachusetts)

Campbell took a perfect game into the seventh inning in a 6-0 win over Saint John’s. The junior left-hander gave up a two-out single but still finished off the shutout, striking out 13.

Owen Cavey, Medina (Ohio)

Cavey retired the last 20 batters he faced in order en route to a no-hitter against Wooster in a Division I Region 3 semifinal. The junior left-hander struck out 10 in the 5-0 victory.

Drake Gabel, West Linn (Oregon)

Gabel scattered six hits and didn’t allow a run as West Linn repeated as Class 6A state champion with a 2-0 victory over Jesuit. Gabel, a senior left-hander, is a Seattle University signee.

Andrew Habermann, Westlake (California)

Habermann, a junior righty, threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts as Westlake took down Palisades, 4-0.

Landon Harmon, East Union (Mississippi)

In the Class 2A Championship Series opener, Harmon threw five perfect innings with nine strikeouts in a 14-0 victory over Pisgah.

Emmanuel Johnson, Park (Wisconsin)

Johnson set a new Wisconsin state record in the high jump with a clearance of 7-1 at the Division 1 championships. The senior’s mark is tied for fourth nationally this spring.

Connor Molony, Thurston (Oregon)

Molony went 4 for 4 and drove in five runs as Thurston won its Class 5A state semifinal against Wilsonville, 14-8. Molony, a sophomore, is committed to Oregon.

Kaleb Nastari, United (Ohio)

Nastari set a new Ohio state record in the 800 at the Division 3 championships with a winning time of 1:48.31 — the top time nationally this season.

Erik Paulsen, Massapequa (New York)

Paulsen blasted a pair of home runs in an 8-4 victory over Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK.

Michael Ruff, Century (Minnesota)

Ruff, a sophomore left-hander, threw a no-hitter with four strikeouts in a 5-0 win over John Marshall.

Ryne Shackelford, Keystone (Ohio)

Shackelford claimed his third straight state long jump title with a top mark of 25-6.5 at the Division II state track meet. The wind-aided jump is the top all-conditions mark nationally this year. Shackelford is a Purdue football signee.

David Shields, Mt. Lebanon (Pennsylvania)

Another sophomore lefty, Shields fanned nine and didn’t surrender a hit as Mt. Lebanon defeated North Allegheny in the Class 6A championship game, 4-0. Shields is committed to Miami.
