Section 7 top stars: Boozer twins, Winters Grady shine in Arizona

The Section 7 boys basketball tournament continued on Saturday from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Here are the players who stood out on day two.

SECTION 7 TOP PERFORMERS - DAY 2

Jake Hall, Carlsbad (CA): Hall led the Lancers to two wins on Saturday, scoring 27 points in their quarterfinal victory against Fossil Ridge. Hall’s performance earned him a scholarship offer from Idaho later in the day.

Zach Jackson, Torrey Pines (CA): Jackson had double-doubles in both games for the Falcons on Saturday, totaling 30 points and 22 rebounds. In game one, he rebounded a missed three-point attempt and beat the buzzer with a layup to push Torrey Pines past Democracy Prep (NV) in the quarterfinal round.

Cameron Boozer and Malik Abdullahi, Columbus (FL): Boozer showed the Dozens of college coaches sitting court side what makes him the nation’s best player in the class of 2025. His perimeter shooting, rim protection and pinpoint outlet passes were on display in the Explorers’ 71-41 victory over Corona Centennial.

Abdullahi was on the receiving end of several alley-oops from Boozer’s twin brother Cayden. He visited Brown earlier this month and has continued his strong play from the EYBL into this month’s scholastic live period with Columbus.

Jaden Steppe and Winters Grady, Tualatin (OR): Tualatin quickly built a big lead over Campbell Hall (CA) on Saturday morning and held on for a nine-point win in thanks to Steppe and Grady. The duo used their size advantage inside against a smaller Campbell Hall team while also showcasing their perimeter skills. The game drew a big crowd as many coaches and fans got a glimpse of Bryce James, LeBron’s youngest son, playing in his first tournament with Campbell Hall.

Ace Reiser, Alta (UT): After taking down Sierra Canyon on Friday night, Reiser and the Hawks beat Perry (AZ) in Saturday’s quarterfinal matchup. In front of packed college coaches’ section, many of which had made their way over to see Perry five-star forward Koa Peat, Reiser was the best player on the floor during the game. Reiser hit a floater with Peat defending him that gave Alta the lead for good with less than 30 seconds to play.
