Vote now: Who should be SBLive's national girls athlete of the 2022-23 school year?

Since August, SBLive Sports has scoured all corners of the country each week for the top high school performances.

Every season featured no shortage of highlights and record-breaking efforts from athletes in each sport.

Vote in the poll below for one of the 20 nominees for SBLive's national girls athlete of the 2022-23 school year.

The voting will conclude Friday, July 7, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time.

Descriptions of each athlete's top performance are below the poll.

Sophia Bordi, Haddon Heights (New Jersey) softball

Bordi, a sophomore, threw a perfect game with 16 strikeouts as Haddon Heights defended its state title with a 3-0 victory over Jefferson in the Group 2 final in June. It was her fourth perfect game of the season.

Payton Burnham, Sheldon (Oregon) softball

Burnham fired a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts and no walks in a 2-0 Class 6A state semifinal victory over Sherwood in late May. Four days later, the junior Oregon State commit then struck out 17 in the final as Sheldon defeated Oregon City, 1-0. Burnham was voted Class 6A player of the year.

Audi Crooks, Bishop Garrigan (Iowa) basketball

Crooks broke the Iowa state tournament single-game scoring record with a 49-point explosion as Bishop Garrigan repeated as state champion with a 68-57 victory over Newell-Fonda in March. The Iowa State signee also had 16 rebounds.

Emily Delgado, Santiago (California) softball

Delgado went 4 for 4 with a home run and tossed a one-hitter as Santiago captured the Division II regional championship with a 5-0 victory over El Capitan in June. Delgado is a Southern Utah signee. During regional playoffs, the senior went 10 for 10 at the plate with a walk.

Sadie Engelhardt, Ventura (California) track

Engelhardt broke the CIF state meet record by winning the 1,600 in 4:33.45 in May — the top time in the country this season. The sophomore became the first girl to win state titles in the 800 and 1,600 since Kathy Costello of Pleasant Hill in 1975.

Maddyn Greenway, Providence Academy (Minnesota) basketball

Greenway became the fastest player in Minnesota girls basketball history to reach 2,000 career points in a 126-94 win over Minnehaha Academy. Greenway, a freshman who made her varsity debut as a seventh-grader, scored a career-high 60 points in the February victory.

Erin Hoehn, North Posey (Indiana) softball

Hoehn, a Michigan signee, threw a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts and launched a walk-off three-run homer that lifted North Posey to a 3-0 victory over Andrean in the Class 2A state championship game in June.

Shawnti Jackson, South Granville (North Carolina) track

Jackson won the 100 with a time of 10.89 — a new national high school record — at the Music City Track Carnival in June. The senior is an Arkansas signee.

Ari Long, Valley View (California) basketball

Long was sensational during the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 3 for Valley View, scoring a school-record 61 points in an 87-39 win over Lakeside followed by a triple-double (54 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists) against Rancho Christian, a 94-84 Valley View victory. The Washington signee became the 17th girls basketball player in California history to surpass 3,000 career points.

Sage Mardjetko, Lemont (Illinois) softball

Mardjetko fired a no-hitter in the state championship game for the second straight season, striking out 24 in a 12-inning marathon against Antioch in June. Lemont scratched across a run in the bottom of the 12th in the Class 3A title game for a 1-0 win. Mardjetko, a South Carolina signee, didn’t allow an earned run during her senior season.

Nicole Melious, Wagner (New York) basketball

Melious recorded a triple-double with 60 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists in a 101-60 December win over Clinton School. The La Salle signee finished second in the country in scoring as a senior at 43 points per game.

Rylee Michalak, Notre Dame (New Jersey) softball

Michalak whirled an 18-strikeout perfect game as Notre Dame took down Immaculata, 3-0, in a South Jersey Parochial A quarterfinal in May. Michalak, a junior, is committed to Houston.

Hana Moll, Capital (Washington) track

Moll set a new national high school outdoor record in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-0 to win gold at the Arcadia Invitational in April. Her twin sister, Amanda, jumped 15-1.5 in January at the UCS Spirit National Pole Vault Summit, an indoor meet. The Molls are the only 15-foot high school pole vaulters in U.S. history. They will compete together in college for Washington.

Amira Rodriguez, San Benito (Texas) softball

Rodriguez tallied 11 RBIs, three runs scored and three home runs — including a pair of grand slams — as San Benito won a three-game series over New Braunfels in the Class 6A softball playoffs in May.

Dejah Saldivar, Ontario Christian (California) basketball

Saldivar drained a state-record 17 3-pointers and netted 51 points in a 115-30 win over Linfield Christian in January. She went 17 of 30 from long distance.

Ellie Schneider, sr., Metairie Park Country Day (Louisiana) volleyball

Schneider led Metairie Park Country Day to its seventh straight state championship in November, earning Most Outstanding Player honors after notching 28 kills, 2.5 blocks and one ace. The 6-foot-4 volleyball and basketball star will be playing volleyball for Kansas next season.

Corri Vermilya, Loudonville (Ohio) basketball

Vermilya scored a single-game program record 59 points in a 71-68 January victory over Mansfield.

Ivy Tolbert, Commerce (Georgia) soccer

Tolbert had seven goals and two assists in a 10-0 victory over Rabun County in March. The Cornell commit finished her junior season with a nation-leading 83 goals.

Juju Watkins, Sierra Canyon (California) basketball

Watkins, a USC signee, broke her own school record by scoring 60 points in an 88-39 win over Notre Dame in January.

Sydnie Watts, Austintown Fitch (Ohio) softball

Watts, a sophomore, struck out 20 and gave up just two hits in a 2-0 victory over Mentor in May.
