This week’s Nebraska Girls Soccer Top 25 rankings sees some adjusting toward the top. Gretna remains firmly the state’s No. 1 team, but Class B Grand Island Northwest, as well as Class A Omaha Westside and Papillion-La Vista, make their way into this week’s Top 10. Skutt Catholic and Concordia also enter the Top 25 this week. 

1. Gretna (16-0, Last Week #1) 

Won 6-1 vs. Papillion-La Vista South and won 10-0 at Omaha South 

The Dragons show no signs of slowing down their momentum as they continue rolling through their competition. This year, Gretna has netted 76 goals and allowed just three and looks to win its third-straight Class A Crown. Allison Marshal leads Gretna in scoring at just over a goal per match.

2. Lincoln Southwest (12-2, Last Week #2)

Won 4-0 at Lincoln Northeast

Southwest has continued looking sharp, notably picking up a big win two weeks ago over Lincoln East. On the year, the Silverhawks have scored 51 goals and allowed just four. Junior forward Kennadi Williams is scoring just over a goal per game, and Charley Kort is averaging nearly a goal per game, too.

3. Lincoln East (12-2, Last Week #3)

Won 4-0 vs. Kearney

Coming off a sound win over Kearney, East looks to keep the momentum rolling against 3-9 Lincoln North Star on Tuesday. Josie Spann is scoring about half a goal per game for the Spartans, as is sophomore Makynlie Cade and Senior Tula Waite.

4. Marian (13-3, Last Week #4)

Won 4-0 vs. Papillion La-Vista

Marian is the winner of five straight, not allowing a single goal during that stretch and scoring 32 of their own. Look for the Crusaders to take care of business against Omaha Burke Monday in their district tournament. Freshman Paige Miller leads Marian in scoring, netting about a goal per game.

5. Grand Island Northwest (14-0, Last Week #6)

Won 10-0 at Crete and won 5-0 at Seward

Grand Island Northwest cracks this week’s Top-5 rankings for the first time this year. Undefeated, the Vikings have outscored opponents 85 goals to one. Leading Northwest in scoring at nearly two goals per game is Guadalupe Sanchez. Senior Lexie Lilienthal is also netting one per outing.

6. Lincoln Pius X (11-4, Last Week #10)

Won 4-2 at Fremont and won 10-0 vs. Benson

Pius continued taking care of business this week, moving down just one spot to a hot Grand Island Northwest squad. On the season, the Thunderbolts have outscored opponents 42 goals to 12. They are the winners of two straight since falling 1-0 to Omaha Westside on April 22.

7. Omaha Westside (10-5, Last Week #14)

Won 1-0 vs Millard West

Omaha Westside has won three straight and is a team that’s trending up at the right time this season. Three quality wins have come over Millard West, Duchesne and Lincoln Pius X. Leading Westside in scoring is junior Schuyler Achola, netting a goal per game. Juniors Ruby Cunningham and Lauren Schwers are also scoring nearly a goal per outing.

8. Millard West (10-4, Last Week #5)

Lost 1-0 to Omaha Westside and won 5-0 vs. Bellevue East

Madi Rohes, Alyssa French and Abby Hutteger are leading the way for Millard West this season. Gulianna Gagliolo is leading the team in assists. On the season, Millard West has outscored opponents 43 goals to nine.

9. Papillion-La Vista (10-5, Last Week #12)

Won 2-1 at Millard North (OT), lost 4-0 vs. Marian and won 2-0 vs. Norfolk

The Monarch’s crack this week’s Top 10 for the first time this season. The overtime win against Millard North showed a great ability to close a tight one. Laina Souerdyke leads PLV in scoring with a goal per game. Maggie Turner is the assist leader for the Monarchs.

10. North Platte (9-3, last Week #11)

Won 3-1 vs. Scottsbluff

North Platte is the winner of seven straight matches and have outscored opponents 32 goals to eight this season. Junior Briley Haneborg and sophomore Abby Kaminski are each scoring about half a goal per game. Junior Sydney Letourneau is leading the team in assists.

11 . Bellevue West (10-5, Last Week #18)

Won 13-0 vs. Omaha North

Bellevue West has been piling on the goals over the last two matches, scoring 23 while not allowing one themselves. Madison Severn and Mia McVay lead the Thunderbirds in scoring, and McVay is also the team’s assist leader. The Thunderbirds have won four straight which has helped improve their stock.

This Week: Monday at #14 Kearney

12. Norris (13-1, Last Week #9)

Won 3-0 at Elkhorn North

Norris has found a winning formula this season, only falling early in the Year to Lincoln Pius X 1-0. Leading Norris in scoring is junior Kennedy Sullivan, averaging nearly two goals per outing. Grace Kohler, a junior, is the team’s assist leader.

13. Duchesne (12-2, Last Week #11)

Lost 2-1 (2OT) to Omaha Mercy and won 4-0 vs. Roncalli Catholic

After starting the year with 10 straight wins, Duchesne has shown a few dents in its armor, dropping two of its last four matches. As a result, they drop a few slots in this week’s rankings. Claire Quattrocchi leads the Cardinals in scoring at just under one goal per game. Tatum Vaughan leads the team in assists.

14. Scotus Central Catholic (11-2, Last Week #13)

Won 4-0 at Hastings and won 1-0 at Elkhorn North

Since falling 2-1 to Class A Millard North, Scotus has won two straight in dominating fashion. On the season, the Shamrocks have outscored opponents 51-9. Libbie Brezenski, Emma Brezenski and Izzie Kadavy are all scoring more than a goal per game for the Shamrocks.

15. Kearney (9-5, Last Week #8)

Lost 4-0 vs Lincoln East

The Bearcats are on a three-game losing skid and haven’t been able to hit the back of the net during that stretch. Kearney looks to right the ship Monday during its District Tournament game against Bellevue West.

16. Millard North (9-5, Last Week #14)

Lost 2-1 vs. Papillion La-Vista and won 1-0 vs Fremont

Millard North has won four of its last five games en route to closing out the season. Leading scorers for the Mustangs are Brooklyn Bales, Addalyn Rooney and Paige Salcedo. Olivia wright is the team’s assist leader.

17. Columbus (9-5, Last Week #17)

Won 3-0 vs. Lincoln North Star

Since dropping two straight to Lincoln East and Lincoln Pius X, Columbus has been trending back upward, winning two straight over Kearney and North Star. Look for Monday’s matchup against Papillion-La Vista South to be a tight one.

This Week: Monday vs. #24 Papillion-La Vista South

18. Millard South (9-6, Last Week #20)

Won 7-0 vs. Omaha Burke

The Patriots have won four of their last five games and look to keep that momentum rolling Monday against 6-7 Omaha Central. On the year, they’ve outscored opponents 55 goals to 23. Junior striker Susie Kastl leads Millard South in scoring at just under two per game.

19. Conestoga (11-4, Last Week #21)

Won 7-0 at Auburn and won 9-1 vs. Nebraska City

Conestoga, who for the first time this season moved into our Top 25 rankings last week, moves up another couple of slots – winning five straight matches helps you do that. Jameson Yost leads the Cougars in scoring at about a goal per match.

This Week: Tuesday vs. Plattsmouth

20. Lexington (10-4, Last Week #22)

Won 7-0 at Omaha Northwest

Lexington has won four of its last five, with the lone loss during that stretch coming to Kearney Catholic in double overtime. Senior Berniece Garcia leads the team with nearly two goals per game, and senior Citali Prado is averaging just over a goal per game, too.

This Week: Monday at Holdrege

21. Skutt Catholic (9-4, Last Week unranked)

Won 7-0 vs. Roncalli Catholic and won 2-0 vs. Omaha Mercy

Skutt Catholic enters this week’s Top 25 after falling out of it for several weeks. The SkyHawks, while up and down this season, are the winners of three straight. Addison Burt, Tess Behrens and Delaney O’Doherty are all averaging a goal per game.

22. Concordia (11-5, Last Week unranked)

Won 3-0 vs Norfolk Catholic, won 2-0 at Lincoln Lutheran/Raymond Central and won 3-2 vs. Blair

Concordia is on a four-game winning streak and looks to keep it going Monday against a solid Duchesne squad. On the year, they are outscoring opponents 54 goals to just 15. Freshman Abbi Gibbs leads Concordia in scoring at just over a goal per game.

23. Lincoln Southeast (8-6, Last Week #25)

Won 2-0 vs Lincoln Northeast and won 2-0 at Norfolk

Southeast has won four straight, not allowing a single goal during that stretch while netting seven of their own. Junior Samantha Searcey is the team’s scoring leader and assist leader. Look for a good matchup between Southeast and Omaha South Tuesday.

24. Omaha South (9-8, Last Week #24)

Lost 10-0 vs. Gretna

Don’t read too much into the blowout loss at the hands of the Dragons, it’s happening to virtually everyone Gretna faces this year. Look for a much more favorable matchup Tuesday when the Packers face Lincoln Southeast in their District Tournament. Erika Ortez leads South in scoring at just over a goal per game. Kyana Rios is the team’s assist leader.

This Week: Tuesday vs. #23 Lincoln Southeast

25. Bennington (10-5, Last Week #23)

Won 4-0 vs. Waverly

The Badgers have won four of their last five and outscored opponents 44 goals to nine this year. Leading Bennington in scoring is junior forward Harlie Taylor, scoring just under a goal per game this season. Look for a competitive, hard-fought game against Roncalli Catholic Monday.
