SBLive Small School Boys Basketball Rankings: New Site moves up to No. 2


Every week during the 2020-2021 boys basketball season, SBLive will rank the Top 10 small school boys basketball teams in Mississippi.

Here are the small school boys basketball rankings for Jan. 19, as compiled by SBLive Sports reporter Tyler Cleveland.



Jan. 19. 2021

1. Madison-Ridgeland Academy (18-3)

Last week: No. 1

The Patriots picked up wins over Copiah Academy, Jackson Prep and Natchez Cathedral last week, but suffered their first in-state loss against Raymond Monday night in Clinton.

2. New Site (18-1)

Last week: No. 3

The Royals ran their winning streak to eight games, and still haven’t lost to any other team from Mississippi. This week, they’ve got Biggersville at home and Potts Camp on the road.

3. St. Andrew’s (9-2)

Last week: No. 4

The Saints beat Velma Jackson twice last week, giving them their first regular-season sweep of the Falcons in school history and a perfect 4-0 record in Region 6-3A.

4. Jackson Academy (14-2)

Last week: No. 2

The Raiders lost for just the second time this season at Presbyterian Christian, but bounced back with a 43-41 win over Parklane Friday.

5. Ingomar (18-4)

Last week: No. 5

The Falcons are winners of five straight headed into a busy week that includes a home game with Baldwyn and road games at Smithville and Tupelo Christian.

6. Simpson Academy (18-2)

Last week: No. 6

The Cougars were absolutely rolling before dropping their second game of the season against Hillcrest Christian Monday afternoon. But at 6-1, they still control their own destiny in District 3-4A.

7. Hartfield Academy (18-6)

Last week: No. 7

The Hawks got back in the winner’s column in a big way with a 60-52 win over Hillcrest Christian Saturday.

8. St. Patrick (17-1)

Last week: No. 8

Coach Keith Robinson has the Irish on a roll. After beating North Forrest and St. Stanislaus, St. Patrick is 4-0 to start the new year.

9. Bay Springs (13-0)

Last week: No. 9

The Bulldogs blasted Puckett (78-43) and Mize (71-22) before crossing the state line to stay unbeaten with a 91-56 win over Sarah T. Reed (Louisiana).

10. Nettleton (13-2)

Last week: NR

The Tigers handled business in a 63-50 win over Belmont and a 91-68 win over Kossuth last week. They are 9-1 in their last 10 games headed into a tough matchup with Booneville Tuesday.
