Every week during the 2020-2021 girls basketball season, SBLive will rank the Top 10 small school girls basketball teams in Mississippi.

Here are the small school girls basketball rankings for Feb. 1, as compiled by SBLive Sports reporter Tyler Cleveland.

SMALL SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL POWER RANKINGS

Feb. 1, 2021

1. Belmont (22-3)

Last week: No. 1

The Cardinals dropped their first region game of the season last week, falling to Kossuth 58-55 on the road. They also beat Red Bay (Ala.) on the road 57-25 and lost to 6A Tupelo 59-58 at home.

2. New Site (25-2)

Last week: No. 2

The Royals picked up two key region wins over East Union and Walnut earlier in the week, but lost at home to Choctaw Central to close out the week. They’ve got two games left on the regular-season schedule against Myrtle and Aberdeen this week.

3. Pillow Academy (18-3)

Last week: No. 3

The Mustangs beat Bayou Academy 62-31 and Starkville Academy 64-36 last week. They close the regular-season portion of their schedule Tuesday night at home against Washington School.

4. Jackson Prep (20-2)

Last week: No. 4

The Patriots stayed perfect in district play with a 41-24 win over Presbyterian Christian in their only action last week. This week, they’ve got MRA on the road Tuesday night before Copiah Academy comes calling Friday.

5. West Lincoln (13-1)

Last week: No. 5

The Bears beat Bogue Chitto 42-36 at home last week before having to forfeit to Wesson Friday night. They are scheduled to close out the regular season Tuesday night with a region game against Enterprise.

6. Leake Academy (26-2)

Last week: No. 6

The Rebels finished a perfect 10-0 in district play with a 58-17 win over East Rankin Academy and a 67-22 win over Winston last week, then beat Hillcrest Christian 51-50 in a non-district game for good measure.

7. Jackson Academy (26-2)

Last week: No. 7

The Raiders got back to their winning ways last week, beating Copiah Academy 51-23 and Presbyterian Christian 53-21.

8. Kossuth (13-4)

Last week: No. 10

The Aggies knocked off Belmont 58-55 last week to pick up their biggest signature win of the season. They’ll face another powerhouse, Pine Grove, Tuesday night on the road.

9. Senatobia (17-4)

Last week: No. 9

The Warriors beat Water Valley 61-15, Winona 65-13 and got a forfeit from Holly Springs last week to finish a perfect 10-0 in Region 2-3A.

10. Union (19-5)

Last week: No. 8

The Yellowjackets dropped their second region game of the season last week, falling Tuesday at Philadelphia 54-39. They bounced back with a 46-17 non-region win over Stringer to finish the week, and can get revenge this week when Philadelphia comes to town for the rematch Tuesday night.
