St. Stanislaus dynasty continues with 11th MHSAA boys soccer state championship

MADISON — The dynasty continues.

Behind a dominating offensive performance St. Stanislaus raced past Ripley 4-0 to claim their second consecutive MHSAA Class 4A boys soccer state championship at Madison Central on Saturday afternoon.

It is the Rock-a-chaws (14-2-1) eleventh state title in school history.

“I feel like we were the better team from start to finish. We have a very talented group,” said St. Stanislaus coach Zach Villarubia. “We came out and took care of business and finish the chances that we had. Winning two in a row is a great feeling for us.”

St. Stanislaus dominated possession for most of the game. 

The Rock-a-chaws first goal came off a deflection in front of the goal as Grant Sides chipped the ball in the goal to take a 1-0 lead 16 minutes into the game.

St. Stanislaus scored one minute later on a header by Ethan Jacobi to take a 2-0 lead.

“The game plan was to high press them and we did a good job of that early on,” Villarubia said. “Second half we didn’t allow them to take control of the ball out of the back.”

Sides added his second goal in a one-on-one scenario.

“Coming into the game we had no information on Ripley so we just came in and trusted our own skill and game plan,” Sides said. “It's an awesome feeling winning back-to-back and it being my senior year.”

St. Stanislaus had 12 shots on goal to Ripley's one.

The Tigers finish the season 18-4.
