High school teams from Los Angeles County can now play against other teams from anywhere in the state, according to updated L.A. County Health Department guidance released on Monday.

"The restriction limiting competition to only teams within the same county or bordering counties has been lifted," the release reads.

There are a handful of soccer teams from L.A. County who are scheduled to either host or travel to play a team from a non-adjacent county in the CIF Southern Section playoffs. Before the updated guidance, those teams were likely going to forfeit their games.

In boys soccer, Palos Verdes is scheduled to play Santa Barbara on Thursday in the first round. That game is no longer in violation of L.A. County Health Department guidelines and can continue as scheduled.
