Rain suspends play at Mississippi high school baseball state championships
Torrential rain and thunderstorms suspended play Wednesday afternoon at Trustmark Park, causing delays that could extend the 2021 MHSAA Baseball Championship series' an extra day.
PEARL — Torrential rain and thunderstorms suspended play Wednesday afternoon at Trustmark Park, causing delays that could extend the 2021 MHSAA Baseball Championship series' an extra day.
Taylorsville and East Union had played five complete innings in the opening game of the best-of-three 2A series. The game was called after a lengthy delay, and Taylorsville was declared the winner, 5-1.
The 4A and 6A series openers — originally scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday — have been moved to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday evening.
Game Two in those series' will be Saturday at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Any potential Game Threes will be Sunday with game times to be announced.
