WHAT’S THE QUARTERBACK SITUATION?

Senior Jalen Daniels will be the quarterback for the Hornets after transferring in from Red Mountain High School in Phoenix. "He'll be ready to go Friday," said Lincoln assistant head coach Jason Carter.

BEST-CASE SCENARIO FOR LINCOLN

The Hornets are absolutely in the mix to qualify for the four-team open division playoff bracket. They'll be tested in non-league play starting in week two when they travel to play a loaded Los Alamitos team before returning home for a matchup against Mission Hills. They look to be the second best team in a Western League that has added La Jolla into the mix.

MOST REALISTIC SCENARIO

Lincoln will be tested throughout their schedule and will have a very difficult time dethroning Cathedral Catholic from the top of the Western League standings, but at worst should be one of the top seeds in San Diego's division one playoffs if they're unable to crack the top four in the open division at seasons end.

COACH SAID

“Our kids are just looking for an opportunity to play. We’ve got a rich tradition going right now and our kids understand that they’re playing for something bigger than themselves. They’re also playing for the opportunity to go to college."

“Everyone’s hungry, it’s a young team but everyone is hungry. We’ve got a heavy 2023 class. I always tell them they each have a piece of the puzzle to play, doesn’t matter if it’s a big piece, a small piece but that piece has to be played at some point and ultimately, you’re in control of that piece of the puzzle. How hard you work, what you do in practice, what you do off the field in the classroom, what type of leader are you in the weight room, that determines what you’re gonna get.”
