Congratulations to Fairhoperunning back Qualin McCants for being voted SBLive’s Alabama High School Athlete of the Week for Oct. 18-24!

The sophomore rushed 19 times for 145 yards and three touchdowns in Fairhope’s 35-16 win over Alma Bryant.

McCants received 56.94% of the vote, beating out Jackson’s Walter Taylor III who finished second with 42.96%. There were over 32,000 votes tallied this week!

Deontay Averette, Flomaton RB

Averette carried the ball 30 times for 200 yards and three touchdowns in an overtime loss to T.R. Miller.

Jay Baldwin, Baldwin County RB

Baldwin rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Robertsdale.

Cole Blaylock, UMS-Wright RB

Blaylock rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-3 win over Elberta.

Tyler Bradley, Daphne RB

Bradley rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown in a 35-31 loss to Baker.

Tyler Cooper, Austin RB

Cooper rushed for 314 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries in Austin’s 42-28 win over Bob Jones.

Joshua Flowers, Baker QB

Flowers passed for 215 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another TD in Baker’s 35-31 win over Daphne.

Jamari Hawkins, Baker WR

Hawkins caught five passes for 132 yards and a touchdown and also scored a rushing TD in Baker’s 35-31 win over Daphne.

RJ Hamilton, Hoover WR

Hamilton had nine catches for 151 yards and a touchdown in Hoover’s 24-21 upset of Thompson, the No. 5 team in SBLive’s Power 25 national rankings.

Jermaine Holcombe, Jr., Vigor DB

Holcombe had three interceptions in Vigor’s 21-20 win over St. Michael.

Iverson Hooks, Pike Road QB

Hooks rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries to lift Pike Road to a 44-0 win over Greenville.

Jarius Houston, Chickasaw RB

Houston carried the ball 26 times for 243 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-28 win over Excel.

Myles Johnson, T.R. Miller

Johnson scored three touchdowns and intercepted a pass on defense in T.R. Miller’s 30-29 OT win over Flomaton.

Omari Kelly, Hewitt-Trussville WR

Kelly hauled in five passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns in Hewitt-Trussville’s 28-7 win over Oak Mountain.

Carlin Long, Huntsville RB

Long rushed 18 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-27 loss to Sparkman.

Bennett Meredith, Hoover QB

Meredith threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns – including the game-winning TD pass to Jabari Gaines with 14 seconds left – to lift Hoover to a 24-21 upset of Thompson, the No. 5 team in SBLive’s Power 25 national rankings.

Ty Mims, Baldwin County QB

Mims threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns to lift Baldwin County to a 35-3 win over Robertsdale.

Johnny Morris, Spanish Fort RB

Morris rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries in Spanish Fort’s 35-14 win overr McGill-Toolen.

Gabe Reynolds, Saraland QB

Reynolds threw four touchdown passes to lift Saraland to a 49-0 win over Citronelle.

Kamarion Starks, Sparkman LB/SS

Starks had two interceptions in Sparkman’s 28-27 win over Huntsviille.

Walter Taylor III, Jackson QB

Taylor III was 18-of-26 for 371 yards and five touchdowns in Jackson’s 57-0 win over Escambia County.

Jarel Williams, Saraland WR

Williams caught five passes for 101 yards and three touchdowns in Saraland’s 49-0 win over Citronelle.
