THIS WEEK’S SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES:

Gabriela Jaquez, Camarillo girls basketball

Jaquez had 28 points, 15 rebounds and 8 steals in a 59-49 win over Nipomo.

Breya Cunningham, La Jolla Country Day girls basketball

Cunningham had three double-doubles, totaling 66 points and 34 rebounds in three victories.

Mariah Thomas, Palmdale girls basketball

Thomas totaled 45 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 blocks in losses to Quartz Hill and Knight.

Lucky Sutton, Cathedral Catholic RB

Sutton rushed for 435 yards and had seven total touchdowns against Orange Lutheran in Friday's D1-AA Southern Region bowl game.

Logan Gonzalez, Orange Lutheran QB

Gonzalez was 31 of 45 for 433 yards and five touchdowns in Friday's 71-62 loss to Cathedral Catholic.

Desmin Jackson, Orange Lutheran RB

Jackson rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns in Friday's shootout with Cathedral Catholic.

Jaylen Lynch, Orange Lutheran WR

Lynch caught four touchdown passes against Cathedral Catholic.

Jerry McClure, Mater Dei Catholic WR

McClure caught six passes for 124 yards and a touchdown against Helix on Friday.

Christian Washington, Helix RB

Washington had 273 total yards and three touchdowns in Friday's regional bowl game loss to Mater Dei Catholic.

Jax Leatherwood, Scripps Ranch QB

Leatherwood was 18 of 26 for 438 yards and five touchdowns to help the Falcons take down Valencia on Saturday night.

Conor Lawlor, Scripps Ranch WR

Lawlor caught six passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns against Valencia. He also tossed a 30-yard touchdown pass in the 45-38 win.

Dylan Wenger, Scripps Ranch WR

Wenger caught seven passes for 163 yards and a touchdown against Valencia.

Duhron Goodman, Valencia WR

Goodman caught nine passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's loss to Scripps Ranch.

Maalik Murphy, Serra QB

Murphy passed for 280 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's win over Long Beach Poly.

D’amonte Moten, Independence (Bakersfield) DB

Moten had two interceptions including the game-winner in the end zone as time expired.

Ladon Denmark, Independence (Bakersfield) QB

Denmark rushed for three touchdowns against Venice on Friday night.

Malachai Ghitman, Patrick Henry QB

Ghitman passed for 219 yards and three touchdowns while leading a comeback against Birmingham. He also rushed for 66 yards.

Elijaih Lux, Patrick Henry RB

Lux rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns against Birmingham on Saturday.

David Jordan-Oliveros, Birmingham QB

Jordan-Oliveros passed for 209 yards and a touchdown and also scored twice on the ground against Patrick Henry.

Delamonte Barnes, Birmingham RB

Barnes rushed for 127 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown against Patrick Henry on Saturday night.

Timothy Jackson, Birmingham DB

Jackson intercepted a his eight pass of the season on Saturday night, sealing the 42-35 win over Patrick Henry.

Ashtin Dupleasis, Quartz Hill RB

Dupleasis had 184 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns against Palo Verde Valley on Friday.

Josh Sousa, Central Valley Christian RB

Sousa had 164 total yards and three touchdowns in a 21-9 win against Serrano.
