The 2021 high school football season wrapped up in California this past weekend and it was filled with big performances in state championship games from Southern California players and teams.

As the first week of games each season is known as “Week Zero”, the weekend of Dec. 2-4 was officially Week 16 in California high school football. Here’s a quick look at some of the top stars and best individual performances from the last week of the season across SoCal’s state finalists.

SOCAL TOP STARS

OPEN DIVISION:

Raleek Brown, Mater Dei RB: Brown rushed for three touchdowns to help the Monarchs finish the season as undefeated national champions.

Elijah Brown, Mater Dei QB: Brown passed for 243 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 44-7 win over Serra.

Josh Hunter, Mater Dei DB: Hunter had an interception and a fumble recovery to help the Monarchs beat Serra, 44-7.

Leviticus Su'a, Mater Dei LB: Su'a had 13 tackles and a forced fumble against Serra on Saturday night.

DIVISION 1-AA:

Charlie Mirer, Cathedral Catholic QB: Mirer tossed two touchdown passes, both to Rex Haynes, and rushed for a 28-yard touchdown to seal the game with less than five minutes left to play.

Lucky Sutton, Cathedral Catholic RB: Sutton carried 30 times for 232 yards and scored the Dons opening touchdown in Friday's 33-21 win over Folsom.

Victory Johnson, Cathedral Catholic LB: Johnson gave the Dons a two-touchdown lead with a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown on Folsom's first possession of the second half.

DIVISION 1-A:

Tre Harrison, Gardena Serra DB: Harrison returned an interception for a touchdown to seal Saturday's win over Liberty (Bakersfield).

DIVISION 2-AA:

DominicNankil, Mater Dei Catholic QB: Nankil passed for 297 yards and a touchdown in Friday's win over Central Catholic.

Nico Mosley, Mater Dei Catholic: Mosley rushed for three touchdowns in Friday's 34-25 win over Central Catholic.

Isaiah Buxton, Mater Dei Catholic: Buxton intercepted a pass and returned in 88 yards for a touchdown to help the Crusaders beat Central Catholic.

DIVISION 2-A:

Jax Leatherwood, Scripps Ranch QB: Leatherwood passed for 337 yards and had four touchdowns against Wilcox and led Scripps Ranch on a game-winning drive, scoring with less than 30 seconds left to capture the D2-A State Championship.

Conor Lawlor, Scripps Ranch WR: Lawlord caught seven passes for 199 yards and had three first half touchdown receptions. He also snagged an interception just before halftime in Saturday's win over Wilcox.

Dylan Stoney, Scripps Ranch LB: Stoney had 15 tackles and two forced fumbles in Saturday's win over Wilcox.

DIVISION 6-AA:

Aiden Agnor, Quartz Hill LB: Agnor had 16 tackles and a forced fumble against Argonaut on Saturday.
