Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 3-9 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Ca’Leis Campbell, Leake Central Boys Basketball: Led Leake Central in two district wins with 26 points vs West Lauderdale and 19 points vs Northeast Lauderdale.

Keith Taylor, Lawrence County Boys Basketball: Had 26 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals vs. Amite County.

Gavin Shannon, Tupelo Boys Basketball: Had 23 points in 100-93 upset win over Starkville, who came into the game ranked No. 1 in SBLive’s statewide boys basketball rankings.

Darby Pitts, Mantachie Girls Basketball: Had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and was 6/10 behind the arc against Kossuth. Pitts also surpassed 1,000 career points in this game.

Audria Houston, Tupelo Girls Basketball: Scored 15 points in 67-56 win over Starkville. Tupelo came into the game ranked No. 3 in the state in SBLive’s Top 10 girls basketball rankings.

Andie Flatgard, Jackson Prep Girls Basketball: Led Jackson Prep with 20 points in a 56-34 win over Cathedral.

Madilynn Vuncannon, Walnut Girls Basketball: Vuncannon scored her 1,500th career point and 200th career three-pointer in a 34-48 loss against Blue Mountain at the Tippah County Tournament. Vuncannon recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds in this game as well.

Caleb Davis, Madison Central Boys Soccer: Recorded a hat-trick (3 goals) in a 4-1 win over Germantown.

Miles Williams, Northwest Rankin Boys Soccer: Had 2 goals in a 3-0 win over Oxford.

Akala Jacobs, Madison Central Girls Soccer: Recorded a hat-trick (3 goals) in a 4-1 win over Germantown.

Oscar Hampton, Vancleave Boys Basketball: Had 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals in a win over George County.

KK Morris, Northwest Rankin Girls Soccer: Scored 2 goals in a 3-0 win over Oxford.
