Here are the candidates for the WaFd BankArizona High School Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 10-16 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Leamsi Acuna, Junior, Flowing Wells - Leading the Caballeros to a 60-37 win over Marana on Thursday in their lone game of the week, Acuna had 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals to help Flowing Wells continue working toward a top seed in the postseason. 

Adriana Bachman, Junior, Poston Butte - Just shy of her career high, Bachman had 30 points while shooting 65 percent from the field in Tuesday’s 102-28 victory over Cortez. She also had seven steals, seven deflections, four assists and three rebounds to help the Broncos trample the Colts. 

Sienna Cherwinski, Junior, Xavier College Prep - In Tuesday’s 92-22 win over Chandler, Cherwinski led the game in scoring by posting 21 points on the night, nearly as many on her own as the Gators allowed to the Wolves. She also had five steals, five assists, four rebounds and a deflection to help the Gators grab a big win. 

Talia Dial, Senior, Dysart - Leading Monday’s game against Moon Valley in scoring, Dial had 22 points along with 13 rebounds for a double-double in the 45-35 win. She also had two steals on the night, accompanied by a block. Despite the 71-47 loss on Wednesday to Paradise Honors, Dial had 29 points along with seven rebounds, two steals, a deflection and a block. 

Demetria Dosela, Freshman, Miami - Dosela started the week strong once again to make the list, dropping 21 points in the 68-18 win over Globe. She also had eight assists, six rebounds, five steals and four blocks to help the Vandals pick up a huge win. She followed Tuesday in Miami’s 109-17 blowout of San Miguel with 30 points. She nearly had a triple-double, with nine steals and eight rebounds along with six assists.

Mackenzie Dunham, Junior, Sunrise Mountain - Accuracy was the name of the game for Dunham on Monday in Sunrise Mountain’s 82-23 victory over Gila Ridge, where she shot 90 percent from the field. With 22 points, eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block, Dunham was everywhere on the court to help the Mustangs jump out to a solid lead and take the win. 

Sara Enriquez, Freshman, Pueblo - In her first game back on the court since before the holiday break, Enriquez led the team in scoring on Tuesday with a career-high 25 points in the 59-19 victory over Cholla. In addition, she had nine assists, seven rebounds, three steals and a deflection for an outstanding all-around night. 

Janae Floyd, Junior, Mountain Ridge - In Tuesday’s 56-39 win over region foe Boulder Creek, Floyd opened the week with a double-double, posting 20 points, 10 rebounds and and five blocks. Tying her season high of 21 points, Floyd helped Mountain Ridge pick up a 62-22 win over Liberty on Wednesday with her outstanding performance. Shooting 91 percent from the field, she also had five steals in the game. 

Julia Harris, Sophomore, Poston Butte - Harris is a prime example of how even when the shots might be struggling to fall, you can still contribute in other ways to have an explosive night. In Friday’s 60-54 victory over Combs, Harris only had six points, but dominated on defense with 13 deflections and 11 steals. She also had four rebounds and an assist to round out her performance and help the Broncos pick up a big win. 

Taliyah Henderson, Freshman, Salpointe Catholic - Exploding to one her best performances of the season in Tuesday’s 77-17 victory over Canyon del Oro, the freshman led the game in scoring with 22 points while shooting 75 percent from the field. She also had five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a deflection in the win. 

Emma Henke, Senior, Bourgade Catholic - Helping Bourgade pick up a big 63-25 win over Camp Verde on Monday, Henke led the game in scoring with 22 points on the night while shooting 64 percent from the field. She also had 10 rebounds, not only posting a double-double but putting her on the path to a career-best performance for the night with five assists and two steals to go with it. 

Rori Hoffmeyer, Junior, Cibola - Hoffmeyer had a career-best performance on Tuesday in the 80-26 beatdown of Yuma, posting 15 points while shooting 78 percent from the field. Securing a double-double with 10 rebounds, she also had three assists and three steals in 18 minutes of play. 

Jennah Isai, Senior, Valley Vista - The future Oregon Duck went off on Wednesday night in Valley Vista’s 93-28 beatdown of Shadow Ridge, setting not one, but two school records. With 43 points, she not only is the Monsoon record holder for the most points scored in a single game, she also made 10 shots from behind the arc to ink her name in the record books for a second category. 

Tianna Knighton, Sophomore, Arcadia - Dropping 27 points along with five rebounds, three assists, a steal, a block and a deflection, Knighton did a little of everything to help the Titans fight their way to a 47-44 victory over Cactus Shadows on Friday. 

Sarah Miller, Sophomore, Xavier College Prep - Miller is one of a few youngins on the Gators squad chomping down on a stellar season. On Tuesday, she had 19 points, eight deflections, six steals, five rebounds and two assists to help Xavier defeat Chandler 92-22. She followed Wednesday by exploding to a career-high 35 points while shooting 71 percent from the field in the 89-12 pummeling of South Mountain. Additionally, she had eight rebounds, two steals, two deflections and an assist in the win. 

Dominique Nesland, Sophomore, Xavier College Prep - Shooting 78 percent from the field in Tuesday’s 92-22 win over Chandler, Nesland had 16 points along with seven steals, four assists and a rebound. On Wednesday in an 89-12 victory over South Mountain, she set a career high for assists with 12 to help contribute to the win. 

Karolina Padilla, Junior, Douglas - Posting a double-double on Tuesday in the 60-22 win over Walden Grove, Padilla had 21 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, along with four assists, three steals and a block. She followed Thursday in the 70-29 beatdown of Canyon del Oro with another double-double, posting 24 points and 10 rebounds, along with seven steals, four assists and two blocks. Padilla is continuing to make some noise for Douglas on the hardwood. 

Christina Sausedo, Senior, Desert Edge - Helping Desert Edge blow past Cactus 53-20 on Wednesday, Sausedo led the game in scoring with 18 points while also picking up nine steals, five rebounds and an assist in the win. 

Jayla Scott, Senior, Vista Grande - In Thursday’s 70-28 victory over Coronado, Scott had a double-double with 33 points and 16 rebounds, setting a career high in scoring. She also had five steals, three blocks and two assists to round out her stellar night. 

Alex Swanson, Junior, Poston Butte - Friday’s 60-54 win over Combs was huge for the Broncos, and her 21 points on the night not only led the game in scoring, but set a new personal best. In addition, she had six steals, four assists, two deflections and a rebound to help the Broncos pick up the win. 

Ashlyn Swenson, Senior, Basha - Swenson dominated the statbook on Thursday in Basha’s 45-25 win over Chaparral. With 19 points, setting a career high, she led the game in scoring while also picking up six rebounds, dishing out five assists, as well as causing both a deflection and a steal. 

Layla Thompson, Sophomore, Miami - With a career-high 22 points in Monday’s 68-18 win over Globe, Thompson picked up a double-double with 12 rebounds on the night. She also had six blocks and four steals to help the Vandals run away with the win.

Maureen Ulrich, Sophomore, Xavier College Prep - With such a talented young roster, it can be hard to break through, but Ulrich had a stellar performance on Tuesday in the 92-22 win over Chandler. Coming into the game off a career-best performance against Boulder Creek last week, Ulrich nearly posted a triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and nine steals. Ulrich also had four assists and two deflections to help round out the Gators’ crushing of Chandler.
