The Florida high school girls basketball regional playoffs tip off this week which means this will be our final week of regular season girls basketball rankings. We will release our final postseason rankings at the conclusion of the state playoffs.

This Week: vs The Villages Charter (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 4A, Region 2 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders won their 10th consecutive district championship last week. Expect the Highlanders to be a heavy favorite to win the Class 4A Championship in a few weeks.

This Week: vs Lake Howell (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 6A, Region 2 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Mustangs look to get back into the 6A Championship for the 3rd consecutive year (Finished runners-up in 2020 and 2021). The Mustangs will begin their quest on Thursday, as they host Lake Howell in a rematch of the district semifinals.

The Lady Raiders are back in the regional playoffs for the 5th consecutive year. 

  1. American Heritage (Plantation) (20-4)

This Week: vs TERRA Environmental (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 5A, Region 4 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Patriots are coming into the regional playoffs on a 5-game winning streak. They’ll be seeking their 5th consecutive state championship, dating back to 2018.

  1. Seminole Ridge (14-1)

Last Week: Defeated South Fork 59-19, Defeated Dwyer 43-36

This Week: vs Martin County (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball 6A, Region 4 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Hawks are district champions for the 3rd time in the last four seasons. The Hawks will open their regional playoff run on Thursday, as they host Martin County.

  1. Florida State University High (Tallahassee) (17-3)

The Lady Seminoles are coming into the regional playoffs, on an 8-game wining streak.

Last Week: Defeated Plantation 94-10, Defeated Dillard 67-36, Lost to St. Thomas Aquinas 43-39

This Week: at Lourdes Academy (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 6A, Region 4 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Tigers are expected to be one of the heavy favorites to win the Class 6A Championship. They’ll have to complete that task being a district runner-up, starting on Thursday night as they travel to Lourdes Academy.

  1. Westminster Academy (22-5)

Last Week: Defeated Avant Grande Academy 76-8, Defeated David Posnack Jewish Day School (Davie) 82-26

This Week: vs Coral Shores (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 3A, Region 4 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

It could come down to a 3-team tie to see who the favorites are to win the Class 3A Championship (Florida State University High, Miami Country Day and Westminster Academy). The Lions begin their quest on Thursday, where they host Coral Shores.

  1.  Sarasota Riverview (19-1)

Last Week: Defeated North Port 64-27, Lost to Gulf Coast 44-32

This Week: at Durant (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 7A, Region 2 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Rams sustained their first loss of the season last Friday night. They’ll begin a quest for the 7A Championship on Thursday, where they’ll travel to Durant High School.

  1.  Brooks-DeBartolo (19-5)

Last Week: Defeated Tampa Prep 74-28, Defeated Carrollwood Day 52-36

This Week: vs Saint Stephen’s Episcopal (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 3A, Region 2 Quarterfinal)

The Lady Phoenix are back in the regionals for the 7th consecutive year. They’ll also look to get back into the Final Four for the 2nd consecutive year (Lost to Miami Country Day in 2021 Semifinals)

  1.  Miami Country Day (18-8)

Last Week: Defeated Divine Savior Academy 79-11

This Week: vs Somerset Academy (Homestead) (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 3A, Region 4 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Spartans are a regular in the regional playoffs, as they are eyeing their 8th state championship and 2nd consecutive. 

  1.  Dr. Phillips (21-6)

Last Week: Defeated Olympia 64-22, Defeated Haines City 48-40

This Week: vs West Orange (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 7A, Region 2 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Panthers come into the regional playoffs, on a modest 2-game winning streak, but have won 13 of their last 14 games prior to that. Watch out for the Lady Panthers as they can make a run through the 7A Playoffs.

This Week: vs Venice (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 7A, Region 2 Quarterfinals)

The Lady Sharks are rolling right now, as they come into the regional playoffs on an 11-game winning streak. The Sharks have been led by a trio of players; Reese Tremitiere, Katie Ambrose and Madelyn Leslie. 

  1.  Colonial (21-7)

Last Week: Defeated Oviedo 57-10, Defeated Winter Park 66-34, Defeated Hagerty 73-69

This Week: vs Timber Creek (2022 FHSAA Girls Basketball Class 7A, Region 1 Quarterfinals) (Thu.)

The Lady Grenadiers are a team to keep an eye on throughout the 7A Playoffs, as they have a ton of speed from their guards. Watch out for junior guard Sophya Barriero and sophomore guard Carmen Richardson.
