Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Mississippi High School Athlete of the Week for Feb. 7-13 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Jamaica Young, Starkville Girls Basketball:

Young scored 13 points in a loss against Tupelo in the Class 6A Region 1 girls basketball tournament championship.

Makai Myles, Starkville Boys Basketball:

Myles led all scorers with 24 points in a 6A Region 1 Tournament championship loss to Tupelo.

Josh Hubbard, Madison-Ridgeland Academy Boys Basketball:

The junior point guard dropped 33 points in a 73-66 win over Jackson Academy.

Macie Phifer, Ingomar Girls Basketball:

Phifer recorded a double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds) in a 49-31 playoff win over Smithville.

Madilynn Vuncannon, Walnut Girls Basketball:

Vuncannon scored 27 points and 5 rebounds in a 51-58 loss to Pine Grove in the division tournament. The Lady Wildcats ended their season at 13-12.

Kynnedi Davis, Brandon Girls Basketball:

The junior recorded 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals in a 63-24 win over Petal.

Jaylen Edwards, Pontotoc Boys Basketball:

Edwards had 21 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds in a 65-75 district loss to New Albany.

Andie Flatgard, Jackson Prep Girls Basketball:

Flatgard led the Lady Patriots with 28 points in a 58-30 win over the Mid-South All-Stars on senior night.

Dorian Whitley, DeSoto Central Boys Basketball:

The senior led the Jaguars with 24 points in a 69-52 win over Lewisburg. With the win, DeSoto Central secures their spot in the playoffs for the third straight year.

Taelar Felton, Clinton Girls Basketball:

The sophomore guard led Clinton with 20 points in a 71-67 overtime win over Germantown to claim the 6A Region 4 district title.

Karon Hooper, Bruce Boys Basketball:

The senior dropped 31 points and 8 rebounds in a loss against Calhoun City.

Demeriuntia Jackson, Brookhaven Boys Basketball:

The senior had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in a 55-39 win over Natchez.
