TAMPA, Fla.- In a rematch of the District 3A-5 championship game, Carrollwood Day rallied to upset top-seeded Brooks DeBartolo 31-30 in the Class 3A, Region 2 girls basketball playoffs Tuesday night.

Sophomore forward Leah Barnes led all scorers with 12 points for the Lady Patriots. LeighAnn Hanley added 8 points and Carlee Warden-Jankowski finished with 7 points.

The Phoenix were led by sophomore guard Nina Green, who finished with a team-high 7 points. Jaela Davis and Skye McCloud each had 6 points in the loss.

Brooks-DeBartolo won the first meeting 52-36 on Feb. 4 when Davis scored a game-high 18 points.

With the win, the Patriots will travel to take on Cardinal Mooney in Friday’s regional final.

Brooks-DeBartolo finishes their season at 20-6.

Here are three takeaways from the game:

CARROLLWOOD DAY SHOWS RESILIENCY 

After trailing by 12 at halftime, the Lady Patriots started the third quarter on a 10-0 run to get within one possession.

The Patriots took their first lead of the game with 21 seconds left on a three-point play by Barnes.

BROOKS-DEBARTOLO DOMINATES EARLY

The Phoenix looked every bit the part of the No. 1 seed early in the game.

They held Carrollwood Day to just one point in the first quarter and without a field goal for the first 11 minutes of the game.

LEAH BARNES HAS BIG SECOND HALF

Barnes scored 8 of her 12 points in the second half to lead Carrollwood Day's comeback.
