CURRITUCK, NC – Don Ashby has been named the new head coach of the Currituck County Knights wrestling team, the school announced on Wednesday. He replaces Mike Fisher.

Ashby is no stranger to the program, having served as an assistant coach with the Knights since 2018. He has also been an assistant previously at successful high school programs in South Carolina.

“The student athletes at Currituck County have been the best of all my experiences in wrestling to date,” said Ashby. “I've been privileged to be a part of the wrestling program's improvement over the last four years and am thankful for the opportunity to continue coaching the student athletes at Currituck County High School.”

Ashby is a Marine Corps veteran and an experienced wrestling official. He has officiated at every level, for multiple state high school associations, on the collegiate level (NCAA and NCWA), and for USA Wrestling events/tournaments. In addition, Ashby has served as a coach, board member, and treasurer for The Citadel Wrestling Club and served as a board member and treasurer for South Carolina's Team Palmetto – SCYWA.
