Sept. 28-30, 2022 top stars

Brogan Hill, East Davidson

The Golden Eagles quarterback ran for 228 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also threw a 35-yard touchdown pass in a 52-27 win over North Rowan.

Josiah Allred, East Davidson

A burly fullback, Allred is the thunder to Hill’s lightning. He ran for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Nathan Carr, Ledford

Carr just does it every week for the undefeated Panthers. This time in a showdown with conference rival Central Davidson, he was 8-of-10 for 129 yards and a touchdown. Carr ran 17 times for 124 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had an interception on defense.

Justin Little, Independence

The sophomore quarterback was 11-of-16 for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns in a lopsided win over Grainger. Little also ran for 82 yards on just 2 carries.

K.J. Sampson, New Bern

The big guy might make this list every week. A 6-foot-4, 285-pound powerhouse, Sampson had 3 sacks, 4 quarterback hurries and 5 tackles as the Bears rolled past South Central 57-6.

JyMikaah Wells, Salisbury

Wells is another regular. The big tailback ran for 223 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 9 carries in a 59-0 hammering of South Davidson. Wells broke the school career record for touchdowns with 58.

Mike Geter, Salisbury

The two-way starter did it all for the Hornets. He intercepted two passes, threw a touchdown pass and ran for another touchdown.

Cuttler Adams, Robbinsville

Adams accounted for 94 yards of total offense, scored 3 touchdowns and intercepted a pass as Robbinsville turned back Swain County 40-32.

Xavion Hayes, North Davidson

The Black Knights’ tailback ran for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 45-7 win over Montgomery Central. That effort put Hayes over 1,000 yards for the season.

Folger Boaz, East Surry

The Cardinals quarterback put together another huge night by completing 29 of 41 passes for 348 yards and 5 touchdowns with no interceptions in a 41-19 win over Wilkes Central. Boaz also carried 7 times for 88 yards.

William Curtis, Watauga

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior carried 24 times for 181 yards and 5 touchdowns as the Pioneers rolled over South Caldwell 56-7.

Mason Chapman-Mayes, Alexander Central

The junior tailback ran 16 times for 183 yards and a touchdown in a 28-21 win over Ashe County. He also made four tackles.

Regan Ramey, Forbush

In a workhorse effort, Ramey ran 40 times for 219 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Falcons outscored North Surry 41-40.

Blake Proffit, Alleghany

The 5-foot-8, 165-pound senior gained 201 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 11 carries as Alleghany rolled. One of his touchdown runs covered 96 yards. Proffit also caught a 73-yard touchdown pass. And as if that wasn't enough, Proffit had an interception.

Markell Quick, Hough

Quick caught 7 passes for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns while also accumulating 60 yards in returns as Hough beat West Mecklenburg 52-6.

Xavier McCleave, Bunker Hill

McCleave caught 9 passes for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 35-34 overtime win over West Lincoln. He also ran 5 times for 22 yards.

Mason Avery, West Lincoln

Avery ran 23 times for 215 yards and 4 touchdowns in the loss to Bunker Hill.

Zach Lawrence, Butler

The sophomore quarterback was efficient, completing all 6 of his passes for 126 yards and 5 touchdowns in a lopsided win.

Christian Perris, Princeton

The 6-foot, 170-pound junior ran 26 times for 230 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 49-12 win over Eastern Wayne.

Jamari Coppage, Greene Central

Coppage ran for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 7 carries as Greene Central rolled to a 64-7 win.

Jalen Rudisill, Chase

Rudisill ran 19 times for 181 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Trojans beat Hendersonville 35-16 to remain unbeaten.
