Jonathan Paylor, 4-star athlete from Cummings, to announce commitment August 4

Jonathan Paylor will end all the recruiting speculation and announce his college choice on Friday, August 4.

Paylor, a 5-9, 170-pound athlete at Burlington Cummings, is one of the top remaining recruits in the state that has yet to make his college commitment. He originally set August 5 as his commitment date but moved it up one day.

North Carolina, North Carolina State, Maryland, South Carolina and Penn State are the five finalists.

Paylor is a four-star prospect and is ranked as high as the No. 2 overall prospect by several recruiting sites.

He rushed for 1,054 yards and 17 touchdowns last season and also had 725 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

On defense, Paylor had three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, and also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns on special teams.

Paylor is also a standout in track and field at Cummings, winning the 300 at the NCHSAA 2A indoor state championships in February and won the 400 at the outdoor state championships in May.
