Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Central North Carolina high school football defensive football player of the week for Oct. 16 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote in our poll. You may vote as often as you like. Daviare Eldridge, West Forsyth: Eldridge had two interceptions in a 50-42 win over Davie County.

Garrison Dibble, Atkins: Dibble had 15 tackles and a sack in a 32-28 loss to Northeast Guilford.

Elijah Barber, Myers Park: Barber had seven tackles and an interception in a 49-0 win over Olympic.

Jordan Gonder, Northwest Cabarrus: Gonder had 12 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in a 43-7 win over Concord.

Braxton Winston, Providence Day: Winston finished with five tackles, an interception and blocked a kick in a 47-13 win over Charlotte Christian.

Micah Gilbert, Charlotte Christian: Gilbert recorded three interceptions and three tackles in a 47-13 loss to Providence Day.

Phil Harris, Butler: Harris had 12 tackles and two tackles for loss in a 24-21 win over Charlotte Catholic.
