MILLBROOK, NORTH CAROLINA – The Panther Creek boys basketball team remained red-hot, Tuesday, when the Catamounts broke open a tight fourth quarter battle with host Millbrook in the third round of the NCHSL Class 4A Boys Basketball State Tournament and pulled away for an impressive 84-73 road playoff win.

With the win Panther Creek advanced to a fourth round match-up on Friday with top-seeded New Hanover which defeated Sanderson, 60-56, also on Tuesday.

NCHSL CLASS 4A BOYS BASKETBALL STATE TOURNAMENT BRACKET

Panther Creek had a big night from beyond three-point arc, hitting 12-of-19 of their long range shows and built a big early lead. Millbrook, however, battled back within five points at the half and actually forged in front early in the fourth quarter before Chris Uwayo capped a big night to help the Catamounts regain control and pull away.

Uwayo scored 40 points in the victory and hit a pair of three-pointer in the fourth quarter to help Panther Creek break loose from a 69-69 tie. Colt Langdon scored 22 points to lead Millbrook.

Friday's other Elite 8 match-ups in NCHSL Class 4A tournament include Richmond vs. Green Level, Myers Park vs. Mecklenburg and Chambers vs. Lake Norman.
