We have 10 athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s North Carolina High School Athlete of the Week from March 3-9 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, March 16 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominations:

Dalton Hazlett, Northwest Cabarrus, Baseball

The senior right-hander had a splendid outing, throwing a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and a walk as the Trojans beat Lake Norman Charter 7-0.

Brett Smith, Uwharrie Charter, Baseball

Smith threw the first five innings of a combined no-hitter, striking out nine, as the 1-A defending state champions beat The Burlington School 2-1.

Maci Burkhart, High Point Christian, Softball

Burkhart had three hits and two RBIs in the Cougars’ 10-4 win over Charlotte Christian. The junior catcher/infielder was also 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs in a 23-4 rout of East Forsyth.

Ellie Garrison, Wheatmore, Girls Soccer

The record-setting striker is at it again. Garrison, who has committed to Appalachian State, scored six goals in the Warriors’ 9-0 rout of East Davidson. Garrison set a North Carolina record with 92 goals last season. She also gotr one goal in the Warriors’ 8-1 loss to Northwest Guilford.

Lauren Arnold, West Rowan, Girls Basketball

Arnold scored 19 points as the once-beaten Falcons knocked off East Lincoln 55-42 in the fourth round of the 3-A state playoffs.

Juke Harris, Salisbury, Boys Basketball

The Wake Forest signee poured in 34 points in Salisbury’s 78-56 win over Randleman in the fourth round of the 2-A state playoffs.

D.J. Kent, Central Cabarrus, Boys Basketball

Kent, who has committed to Lees-McRae, scored 31 points as the Vikings routed Ben L. Smith 84-58 in the 3-A state playoffs for their 63rd consecutive win.

Caitlyn Jones, Rolesville, Girls Basketball

Jones led the way with 25 points as the Rams held off Chapel Hill 50-44 in the fourth round of the 4-A state playoffs.

Johnniyus Sharpe, Reidsville, Boys Basketball

Sharpe scored 27 points as the undefeated Rams routed West Stokes 89-50 in the fourth round of the 2-A state playoffs.

Rodmik Allen, New Hanover, Boys Basketball

Allen scored the game-winning layup with two second remaining as the undefeated Wildcats rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat Panther Creek 63-61 in the fourth round of the 4-A state playoffs. The 5-foot-11 guard finished with 15 points.
