Evergreen softball C/3B Macy Chamberlin voted SBLive’s Ohio High School Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Evergreen softball C/3B Macy Chamberlin for being voted SBLive’s Ohio High School Athlete of the Week for April 11-17!

Over a span of five games, the sophomore posted a .750 batting average with 12 hits, three doubles, four home runs, eight RBIs three walks (two of which were intentional), and scored eight runs.

Chamberlin received 52.42% of the vote, beating out Norwayne's Beau Polen who finished second with 20.42%. Gilmour Academy's Bella Lasecki finished third with 7.97% and Hilliard Davidson's Kendall Manos finished fourth with 5.17%. There were over 25,000 votes tallied this week!

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for April 11-17:

Tyne Braatz, Westlake softball

Hit a 3-run homer and finished with four RBIs in a 13-4 win vs. Parma and had two hits in a 9-1 win over Buckeye.

Christian Commisso, Defiance baseball

Had a three-run shot and finished with three RBIs to help defeat St. Mary’s 6-2.

Ben Elliott, University School baseball

Had two hits, two runs, a walk and a stolen base in a 6-3 win over Hoban. In a 7-3 win over Brush, he had two RBIs, two hits and a run. In an 8-3 win over Firestone, he had three hits and an RBI.

Kaedan Faggs, Harding boys track and field

Won four events at the Ontario Relays to help his team to a first-place finish. Faggs won the 200 meters in 23.71, the 4x100m relay in 43.92, the 4x200 relay in 1:31.81 and the 4x400 relay in 3:41.79.

Kevin Graney, Avon Lake boys lacrosse

Scored four goals in an 8-3 win over Rocky River and had a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win over University.

Jake Hoverstock, Hillsdale baseball

Smashed three doubles and drove in seven runs to push past Northwestern 17-7 and had a two-run single in an 11-0 shutout vs. Northwestern.

Bella Lasecki, Gilmour Academy girls track and field

Set the program pole vault record as she cleared 10’1. The original record was set in 2016 by Brooke Zedar, who jumped 9’9.

Alex Macke, Ottawa-Glandorf baseball

Had a home run in a 13-2 win over Elida and also had an RBI double in a 5-4 victory over Wauseon.

Kendall Manos, Hilliard Davidson softball

Hit a three-run home run with two outs in the seventh inning vs. Symmes Valley and had two RBIs, including a home run and a double vs. Olentangy Orange.

Beau Polen, Norwayne baseball

The sophomore entered a tie game against Waynedale in the bottom of the seventh and pitched a shutout inning, then scored the go-ahead run in the eighth and closed the game for the win in extra innings. He earned another win pitching against Medina Buckeye on Saturday and got two hits and an RBI at the plate.

Ryan Smith, Worthington Kilbourne boys track and field

Set a new school record and personal record as he finished the 3,200 meters in 9:21.18 to place third overall at the Dublin Joe Lenge Classic.

Sawyer Solitaria, St. Ignatius baseball

Had three hits, two RBIs and a home run in a 7-6 comeback win over Hoban. In a 12-0 shutout over Padua, he pitched five innings, allowing one hit and striking out three and hitting a home run at the plate. In a 4-3 win over Jackson, he had three hits and two RBIs.

Jonathan Spiess, Bexley baseball

The junior pitched his second no-hitter this month, throwing seven innings, striking out 13 and walking one in a 14-0 win Thursday over Chillicothe. He also pitched a no-hitter April 1 against Worthington Christian.

Mia Strizak, Berea-Midpark softball

Hit a sacrifice fly to win the game in walk-off fashion 4-3 over Avon and collected two hits in a 19-4 win over Olmsted Falls.

Calli Thompson, Perry softball

Finished 5-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, two runs scored and five RBIs to lead the Pirates to a 22-0 rout over Lakeside. Also hit a home run in a 14-4 win over Gilmour.

Carter Wachtel, Triway softball

Struck out 17 and allowed just one hit as Triway defeated Madison 3-1, then struck out 15 in a 12-5 win over Loudonville to move the Titans 9-0 for the season.
