Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Ohio high school athlete of the week for May 9-15. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Noah Bromberg, Orange baseball

Led his team with two hits including a double and an RBI in a 5-3 win over West Geauga on Tuesday. On Thursday, Bromberg pitched a complete game and struck out eight while giving up three hits, a run and four walks. He went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI in the Lions’ 9-1 win at Ashtabula Lakeside.

Owen Canter, Manchester baseball

Had a walk-off home run in a 10-9 win over Tuslaw. In a 14-3 victory over Tuslaw, Canter pitched a complete game and struck out 12 while allowing five hits and an earned run while putting together a stellar performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and a home run.

Sadie Carroll, Hoover softball

The sophomore hit a walk-off single in the eighth inning to win 4-3 over Jackson. Later that week, she recorded three hits and two RBIs in a 10-0 win over Madison in the Mentor Division I sectional.

Mason Champagne, Lake baseball

Had a double, single, two stolen bases, two runs and an RBI to beat Massillon 3-1. Then collected a double and a single in a 9-6 win over Ellet.

Madeleine Finton, Columbia track and field

Finton won the 1,600 meters in a time of 5:21:14, the 3,200 meters in 12:05.3, was a part of the first-place 4x800 team that finished in a season-best time of 10:37.15 and was named the Distance MVP at the LC8 Championship Meet.

Grace Fisher, Riverside softball

Threw a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 12 in Riverside’s 23-0 shutout win over Warren Harding in the Division I sectional final. Then struck out another 12 in seven innings to lead the Beavers to a 6-1 win over Mayfield.

Caroline Gage, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy lacrosse

Had five goals and one assist in a 21-5 win over Green.

Abby Hartzler, Smithville track and field

Broke her program’s record in the high jump with a leap of 5’4.25 to break the former record of 5’4” set in 1983.

Madeline Infalvi, Perry softball

The freshman made history as Perry’s all-time single-season hits leader with 59, passing the previous record of 57. Infalvi has hit safely and reached base in 22 straight games. She also holds the record for stolen bases at 36.

Ryder Lewis, Dublin Coffman boys lacrosse

Had five goals, four assists and four ground balls in a 17-15 win over Pickerington Central.

Andrea Mansbery, Walsh Jesuit softball

Went 6-for-6 with two triples, two doubles and six RBIs in a 21-9 win over St. Joseph Academy. Later that week the freshman went 4-for-4 and had two doubles in a 16-2 defeat over Medina Highland. 

Owen Meacham, Riverside baseball

Went 4-for-4 with two runs, a double, three RBIs and a walk in a 15-1 win over Cleveland Heights. Went 2-for-4 and had a stolen base in a 7-5 loss to Avon.

Drew Rader, Wooster baseball

Had three hits, two RBIs and two runs as Wooster beat West Holmes 11-1 to clinch back-to-back OCC titles. Recorded two RBIs in a win over Berlin Hiland and an RBI in a win over Norwayne.

Alex Smith, Hilliard Darby track and field

Broke the OCC-Cardinal 200-meter record with a time of 21.65 seconds in the preliminary at the conference meet, then broke it again in the final with a time of 21.2. Smith also broke the OCC-Cardinal long jump record with a 24’11.5 and was on the winning 400-meter relay team that finished in 43.06 seconds.

Kaleigh Urbanowicz, Brecksville-Broadview Heights softball

Had three hits and four steals, producing three runs and an RBI in an 8-3 win over North Royalton. She also had four RBIs in a 13-0 win at Twinsburg.

Madison Wendel, Coldwater softball

Wendel went 4-0 with three complete games, striking out 19 in a 3-2 win over St. Marys, 16 in a 3-0 win over Allen East and 13 in a 6-0 win over St. Henry. She gave up just six hits in four games.
