Mentor Lake Catholic will be looking for a new boys lacrosse coach, as Chris Hastings has resigned.

The resignation comes just a week after an incident in which a Mentor Lake Catholic lacrosse player had a swastika drawn on his leg in a game against Pepper Pike Orange in the OHSAA playoffs.

Hastings, also the girls soccer coach, is no longer employed in either position and his name has been erased from the school’s website. He was not a teacher at the school, as he was just a part-time employee as a coach.

Along with the player having painted a swastika on his leg, parents at the game also reported hearing racial slurs aimed at an Orange player during the game.

Mentor Lake Catholic’s season came to an end in that game against Orange, as the Cougars fell 19-7.
